The Classkick app is an online web learning platform where teachers and students can interact and work together in real time. However, not everyone knows what Classkick is and how to use it. This article will guide you through everything you need to know about Classkick, how to use Classkick to create assignments, complete them, and interact easily in real time.
1. What is Classkick?
Classkick is an international web service designed to support the process of online learning and work, especially suitable for educational environments in schools. It provides a useful platform for teachers to create specific assignments and instructions, as well as excellent support for students during the assignment process. Students can interact with each other or ask their teacher for help when they encounter difficulties.
For this reason, Classkick quickly gained popularity among Vietnamese teachers, helping to increase students’ interest in subjects and improve teacher-student interaction.
2. How to use Classkick to create assignments
Instructions for creating assignments with the Classkick app for teachers are as follows:
Create an account
Access the Classkick homepage at the link and click on Sign up. (Note: The web interface may change over time, and the FPT Shop illustrations are for reference only).
Choose the account type as Teacher.
To register, you can use your Google account or Clever, or click Sign up with email to create an account with your email address. The application will ask for personal information, including name, surname, and prefix (addressing as a teacher) to display to students.
Next is the workplace. Choose the organization/agency you are working for.
Note: Classkick works best on the Google Chrome web browser, but it can still be used on other browsers like FireFox, Opera, Edge… without any issues.
Create assignments
Before you start, familiarize yourself with the process of creating and completing assignments on the Classkick app. This platform allows you to create assignments with questions and answer boxes on slides. Then, you can set the assignment’s score, add students, and monitor their progress. Students only need to use the classroom link to join the assignment and complete it.
On the main interface of the Classkick app, you can click on the blue plus sign button (+) to create assignments with three options:
- New Blank Assignments: Create assignments with blank content.
- Create From File: Select questions from available files (usually PDF).
- Browse Assignments Library: Use questions from the Classkick library.
Here, FPT Shop will choose New Blank Assignments to guide you on creating questions for assignments. In this interface, there are three sections: Edit, Assign, and View work. Let’s start creating questions in the Edit section.
- Name: Enter the content of the question.
- Description: Add a description for the question.
- Subjects: Select the topic of the question.
- Grades: Set the score for the question.
- Access: Select how the question is displayed.
- Slides: Enter the assignment’s content into these blank spaces.
When creating question content, you have multiple tools to use, such as inserting links, images/videos/sounds, creating listed questions or fill-in-the-blank questions… You can also change the background color or grid lines on the page by clicking Background.
The content will be automatically saved, and you can click the arrow button in the top left corner (<) to return to the Edit interface. For each slide, you can edit, add, or delete easily, and you can see this in the three-dot button of each slide.
To add a new slide, simply click the plus sign button. Or you can also export the slides as a PDF file by clicking the three-dot button in the upper right corner → select Export Slides to PDF.
Add students to the class
After completing the question and content creation, click on the Assign section to add students to the class. Choose Assign a roster → Create a new roster → set a name and choose a representative color for the class. Classkick supports the feature of importing student lists from Google Classroom, but unfortunately, this feature is only available for Pro users (with a fee).
If your class has 10 students, you need to create 10 rosters like this. Each roster will have an access code to enter the assignment room, but this feature is only available in the Pro version. You can click on the code to copy the assignment room access link. As a result, students can join the assignment as usual.
Before sharing, you can set attributes for each student, such as:
- Grades: Enable grading for this student.
- Helpers: Allow this student to receive help from the teacher.
- Hide: If this feature is not enabled, students will not be able to access the assignment room.
- Lock: Lock this student.
Track assignment progress
Classkick records every step of each student’s progress during the assignment, and you can track what they have done in the View Work section.
The Classkick app by default displays all the assignment slide boards of the students. You can arrange and filter the slide boards by name, assignment type, and many other criteria.
At the top of the interface, there is a hand icon (Help inbox), which allows you to review messages and help from the students. When you want to return to the management interface, simply click on the Home icon (house-shaped) in the top left corner.
3. How to use Classkick to participate and complete assignments
For students, participating in and completing assignments on Classkick is also not difficult. Students simply need to access the link sent by the teacher, enter their name, and click Go.
The first slide of the assignment will appear. Students just need to answer the questions based on the teacher’s requirements. If it is a multiple-choice question in the list, they select the correct answer; if it is a fill-in-the-blank question, they enter it in the blank space.
If students need to ask the teacher any questions, they can click on the hand icon Raise hand. In the right interface bar, there are two buttons:
- Please help: Request assistance from the teacher. Students and teachers will exchange messages and help through the chat box below.
- Please check: Ask the teacher to check the assignment. Students can also communicate with the teacher through this chat box.
Note: In addition to the web version, Classkick is also available on Mac and iPad. You can access the AppStore to conveniently install the application.
