Eggs are one of the ingredients that are both cheap, easy to buy, and delicious and nutritious. That’s probably why dishes made from this food often appear on the daily dining table.

In addition to delicious, nutritious, and easy-to-make dishes such as scrambled eggs with meat, omelette with mugwort, stir-fried eggs with bitter melon, egg with tomatoes, and egg soup, you can also use this ingredient to make steamed eggs with cabbage and sticky rice.

1. Ingredients for making steamed eggs with cabbage and sticky rice

– Eggs: 4

– Cabbage: 1 bunch

– Garlic, green onions

– Seasonings: oyster sauce, sesame sauce, soy sauce, ground pepper, cornstarch, fish sauce, salt

2. Steps to make steamed eggs with cabbage and sticky rice

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

– After buying the cabbage, remove the rotten and wilted leaves, as well as the old roots and stalks. To make the dish even better, you should only keep the leaves and young stalks.

– Remove the yellow withered leaves of the green onions, wash them clean, and chop them finely.

– Peel the garlic, wash it with water, and mince it.

Step 2: Blanch the cabbage

– Place a pot of water on the stove, add ½ teaspoon of salt and ½ teaspoon of cooking oil, stir well, and heat it up.

– When the water in the pot boils, blanch the cabbage for about 25 seconds, then remove it and let it drain, and then chop it finely.

Step 3: Prepare the eggs

– Take a small bowl, break the eggs into it, and stir well.

– Then, take another bowl, add ½ teaspoon of salt, 250ml of filtered water, and ½ teaspoon of cornstarch. Use cooking utensils like spoons or chopsticks to stir well and pour it into the prepared bowl of eggs.

– Stir again and use a spoon to remove any foam on the surface of the eggs, then add the blanched cabbage.

Step 4: Steam the eggs with cabbage and sticky rice

– Use food wrap to tightly cover the bowl containing the mixture of eggs and cabbage, and place it in the steamer.

– After steaming the eggs for about 15 minutes, you can take them out, remove the food wrap, and enjoy them slowly.

Step 5: Prepare the dipping sauce

– Add 1 teaspoon of finely chopped green onions, 3 teaspoons of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of chili oil, and 3 teaspoons of black vinegar to a clean bowl. If you want the dipping sauce to be aromatic and spicy, you can add a little finely chopped green onions and minced fresh chili.

– Then, add 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and stir well to mix the ingredients together.

After being prepared, steamed eggs with cabbage and sticky rice will look like prominent pieces of yellow eggs and green cabbage. The dish has a refreshing, rich, and flavorful taste when dipped in the sauce.

3. Notes when making steamed eggs with cabbage and sticky rice

– You should not buy eggs with black spots or pale colors, as they are often stored for a long time.

– When steaming the eggs, use food wrap to cover the bowl of eggs and poke a few small holes to allow the steam to escape without falling onto the surface of the eggs, which would result in a porous texture.
