Durian is a variety with beautiful yellow flesh, thick meat, and small seeds. What sets it apart is that the durian segments closely resemble rice durian, and its flavor is reminiscent of the traditional durian.

This unique durian variety originated from Taiwan and was introduced to Vietnam by Mr. Nguyen Huu Khang in 2021, after his overseas experience. Mr. Khang successfully grafted this durian variety with female durian to create this exceptional fruit. Despite being a hybrid of an imported variety, durian thrives in the climate and soil conditions of Vietnam. The trees start bearing fruit after 18 months of planting, with each fruit weighing between 2.5 to 3 kg. A single tree can yield up to 20 fruits, but it is recommended to limit the fruiting to 5-7 per tree to ensure the best quality.

Currently, Mr. Khang has successfully hybridized three durian varieties: yellow-flesh durian, pink-flesh durian, and cream-colored durian. Among these, the yellow variety stands out with its distinctive and delicious flavor.

At first glance, this particular durian variety closely resembles female durian. However, its taste reveals a fragrant and creamy flavor akin to the traditional durian. The durian tree is relatively short, adorned with furry branches. Its long, thin, and large leaves enhance its unique appearance. When ripe, the thorns flatten and become less sharp, while the thorn eyes are large and scattered, evoking a beautiful sight.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh in Tan Loc Island, Thot Not District, Can Tho City, when consuming durian, she relishes its sweet, rich aroma, thick and dry durian segments, which are highly delicious.
