How to Make Sichuan Tofu

Delicious Sichuan Tofu Recipe

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

You can buy ground pork from supermarkets or reputable food stores. If you purchase a whole piece of meat, wash it with salted water, let it air dry, and then mince it.

Rinse the tofu with clean water and pat it dry with a paper towel. Cut the tofu into small, bite-sized cubes, approximately 1.5-2 cm in length. Chop the scallions, discarding the roots. Peel and mince the ginger and garlic.

Step 2: Stir-fry the meat

Heat a wok or a large pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Add the garlic and ginger, stirring until fragrant. Then, put in the chili powder, satay sauce, dark soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.

Once the spices are aromatic, add the minced pork and light soy sauce. Continue stirring until the meat is no longer pink.

Step 3: Stir-fry the tofu

Cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the meat is partially cooked. Then, add 200ml of water and bring it to a boil. Gently place the tofu cubes into the wok and simmer over low heat for 10-12 minutes. Be careful not to break the tofu.

The Perfect Sichuan Tofu Dish

Step 4: Serve

The dish is ready when the sauce is glossy and has a distinctive red color from the chili. The tofu should be soft and fragrant, and the meat should be cooked just right. The combination of spicy, savory, and tender textures will make this dish irresistible.
