Many people wonder why even though they buy good rice, the cooked rice is still not appealing. The chef explained that one of the reasons why the cooked rice is not delicious is because many people put the rice immediately into the pot after rinsing.
To make delicious rice, the chef believes that you should not put the rice directly into the pot, but there are 3 more steps to follow.
So what are those steps? Let’s take a look at the instructions below:
Prepare an appropriate amount of rice and rinse it with water. Note that you should only rinse it twice, rinsing it too many times will result in the loss of nutrients in the rice, making the rice only contain the starchy core inside. Meanwhile, consuming the starchy core inside the rice will expose the body to risks of diabetes, hypertension, or obesity…
And one thing to note is that when rinsing, do not rub too hard on the rice, just gently turn it around to clean the impurities on the surface.
After rinsing the rice, do not rush to put it into the pot to cook, remember to soak the rice in clean water for half an hour so that the rice grains can absorb water fully, making the rice fluffy and aromatic.
After soaking the rice, put it into the pot, add enough water suitable for the type of rice you are cooking. Using warm water to cook rice will make it taste better. Next, there is a very important step, we need to add a suitable amount of vinegar and cooking oil. The vinegar will make the rice whiter and the smell of vinegar will evaporate during the boiling process. The cooking oil will make the rice grains shiny, round, and more tender.
Close the lid of the rice cooker and then turn on the cooking mode. After the rice is cooked, do not immediately open the lid, the rice will quickly cool down and shrink, and the taste will not be delicious. It is best to wait for about 5-10 minutes after the rice is cooked before opening the lid. At this time, the rice in the pot is fully cooked, there is no steam inside, the rice is white and delicious, the flavor reaches its maximum.
So when cooking rice, don’t put the rice directly into the pot, remember to follow these 3 steps:
1. After rinsing the rice, do not cook it directly, soak it in water for a while (30 minutes), the rice will be softer, fluffier, and shinier.
2. When cooking rice, besides adding water, vinegar and oil are also essential. Vinegar can make the rice more fragrant, and the rice will be softer and fluffier when cooked with oil.
3. After the rice is cooked, let it sit for a while to make it more fragrant and delicious.
