Prolonged Fatigue
One of the most common and noticeable signs of cancer is prolonged fatigue upon waking up. People with cancer may feel unusual tiredness even after a long sleep. When they wake up in the morning, despite having enough rest, they may feel that their body is not fully recovered or lacks the energy to start the day. Despite adequate sleep and nutrition, they still feel exhausted and extremely tired.
This could be a sign of physical debilitation, but it could also be a symptom of various types of cancer, including leukemia, lung cancer, liver cancer, and colorectal cancer. Fatigue can be due to the impact of the tumor on the body or the side effects of cancer treatments.

Unexplained Body or Joint Pain
Pain is a noticeable sign, and this feeling is often present in people with cancer. In particular, unexplained body or joint pain in the morning could be a symptom to pay attention to. Patients may wake up feeling sore, stiff muscles, or joints without any apparent injury or reason. This could be a sign of certain types of cancer, such as bone cancer or metastatic breast cancer.
Sometimes, some cancers progress silently, and patients may not feel any pain initially. But when it does occur, it is often associated with the invasion of tumors into the body’s tissues and organs. Especially if the pain occurs consistently every morning and does not subside, it should raise concern. The pain could indicate the growth of cancer that goes unnoticed as many people attribute it to muscle issues or regular aches and pains.
Additionally, if the patient experiences persistent pain in their limbs and finds it difficult to move their joints, extra caution is advised.
Persistent Cough or Hoarseness
A persistent cough and hoarseness are also symptoms that should not be ignored. If you wake up with a persistent cough or hoarseness, accompanied by phlegm and blood, with no apparent cause, it could indicate lung cancer or throat cancer. This may start as a mild morning cough but persist for an extended period, showing no signs of improvement and possibly accompanied by chest pain or breathing difficulties.
Unexplained Weight Loss
When dealing with cancer, weight changes can be significant. You may experience rapid weight loss without any apparent reason. If these weight changes are accompanied by other abnormal symptoms, it is best to get screened for cancer.

Digestive Issues
Cancer can severely impact the digestive system. Some cancer patients may experience digestive problems such as constipation, diarrhea, or a feeling of fullness and discomfort. If these symptoms occur regularly, especially in the morning after waking up, despite a healthy diet, they could indicate colorectal cancer or ovarian cancer.
Unusual Bleeding
Unusual bleeding is a serious sign that should not be ignored. If you wake up and notice blood in your urine, stool, or unusual bleeding from your mouth, nose, or wounds that don’t heal, seek medical attention immediately. These signs could indicate liver cancer, bladder cancer, stomach cancer, or cervical cancer.
Skin Changes
Changes in the skin, such as the appearance of new moles or alterations in the color of existing moles, could indicate skin cancer. If you notice any abnormal skin changes upon waking up, especially moles with irregular borders, changing colors, or bleeding, consult a doctor immediately.
