A heartwarming video of a son from Ho Chi Minh City gifting his mother a wedding gift as she remarries has gone viral on TikTok, garnering over half a million views.

The video, titled “A Son’s Wedding for His Mother,” has touched the hearts of many.

During the ancestral ceremony, the son delivered a speech: “Dear grandfather, grandmother, and stepfather, today is a very special day, filled with emotions for my mother and me.

These are words I’ve never said to my mother before. I want to thank her for over 30 years of raising my sister and me, a debt that can never be repaid.”

The son’s heartfelt confession brought tears to his mother’s eyes, and viewers were equally moved. Thousands of “hearts” and touching comments were left below the video:

“A filial son who loves his mother and wants her to be happy”; “She’s endured a lifetime of hardship, being both a father and a mother to her children. It’s time for her to live for herself”; “All I know is that she has raised her children well”

Chi Trung is happy that his mother has found happiness in her golden years.

The son in the video is identified as Tran Chi Trung, a 32-year-old resident of Ba Ria Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. His mother, Tran Thi Diem Thy, is 53 years old, and he has a younger sister, Tran Thi Thuy Tram.

In an interview with VietNamNet, Chi Trung expressed his surprise at the viral spread of the video capturing his family’s happy moment. He shared that his words during his mother’s wedding came from a sincere and grateful heart.

When Chi Trung was seven years old, his father fell ill and passed away. For the next 25 years, his mother remained single, dedicating her life to raising her two children. Without the family’s breadwinner, they faced challenging times.

Chi Trung’s mother worked as a pickle vendor in the market, shouldering the responsibilities of earning a living and caring for her children. Chi Trung understood the hardships his mother endured while playing the roles of both father and mother.

“I remember when my sister was very young, and I could only help my mother with household chores. Seeing her struggle, I vowed to be well-behaved and diligent, determined to help ease her burden as soon as I could.

My mother, despite her busy and challenging life, never raised a hand or spoke harshly to us. Although she didn’t explicitly tell us how to be, we learned so much from the way she lived her life,” Chi Trung recounted.

Chi Trung dropped out of school in the 11th grade and pursued his dream of becoming a chef. His sister completed university and now leads a stable life. It was only after her children had grown up that Chi Trung’s mother considered finding happiness for herself.

An Emotional Wedding

The groom, Chi Trung’s stepfather, lived in the same ward as them. His mother and the groom’s mother had been close friends for over 60 years, which led to their introduction. After a year of dating, they decided to tie the knot.

A touching moment from Chi Trung’s mother’s wedding.

When Chi Trung’s mother first shared her desire to remarry, he was taken aback. He admitted to feeling a bit bewildered but knew that after sacrificing so much for her children, she deserved this happiness.

“After meeting and getting to know him, I felt even more assured. He is kind, considerate, and caring towards my mother, so I was confident in entrusting her to him,” Chi Trung shared.

On July 9, Chi Trung hosted an intimate wedding ceremony for his mother, seeing her off to her new life with her husband. The wedding followed traditional customs and was held at his maternal grandparents’ home.

In the morning, the groom brought five trays of betrothal gifts to the bride’s family. During the ancestral ceremony, Chi Trung gave a speech on behalf of the family. The wedding included traditional rituals such as presenting the bride, giving wedding gifts, and toasting…

“As my maternal grandparents are elderly and frail, my sister and I took their place in presenting the wedding gold to our mother. Relatives from the paternal side also attended, offering their blessings. I was overjoyed to see my mother’s love supported by everyone,” Chi Trung shared.

The most touching moment for Chi Trung was when he presented the wedding gift to his mother and expressed his gratitude. Seeing his mother’s tears of joy, he felt content.

The mother, who spent 25 years raising her children alone, has finally found her happiness.

“In the past, I rarely expressed my gratitude to my mother. Her wedding day was a precious opportunity to let her know how I felt. That moment was overwhelming with happiness and emotions,” Chi Trung confided.
