1 Items Not Suitable for Disinfecting Your Phone

According to various online forums, using Coca-Cola can help clean your phone. However, it is only suitable for wiping the exterior and will damage the screen if used for disinfection.

In all cases, avoid using bleach, vinegar, or even harsh disinfectants to clean the glass. These substances will corrode the glass and LCD screen of your device.

Apple recently advised: “You may use a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to gently wipe the exterior surfaces of your iPhone. Don’t use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any openings.”

You can also use disinfectant wipes easily found in supermarkets to clean your phone. However, this method is only effective if you wipe down your device every two hours.

Some news sources recommend using compressed air, but be cautious as it can damage the small components inside your phone.

Additionally, when cleaning your phone, ensure you wipe down both sides and never submerge your device in water, even if it is water-resistant.

3 Simple Steps to Clean Your Phone

Step 1: If your phone case is made of plastic or silicone, wash it thoroughly and let it air dry (avoid using a hairdryer as it can damage the case).

For leather cases, use a dry cloth and avoid getting it wet with rain, sweat, etc., as leather is sensitive to chemicals.

Step 2: Read the cleaning instructions for your case from the manufacturer.

Step 3: Do not use a case (to minimize the risk of germs harboring).

Step 4: Use a clean cotton swab to clean the phone’s speaker and other ports.

Step 5: Use a small, soft-bristled toothbrush for the USB-C port, as a cotton swab may get stuck.

Step 6: Use a cloth to wipe down your entire phone. You can use a Microfiber cloth (with antibacterial and water-absorbent properties) or a clean cotton cloth if you don’t have one.

For Apple products, use Clorox Disinfecting Wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol on a cloth to gently clean your iPhone. Never use bleach to clean Apple devices or products made of leather.

Step 7: Wait for your phone to dry completely before putting the case back on.
