Currency is a popular type of flower that appears all year round at small and large markets, and it is cheap. However, it is also one of the difficult flower types to arrange because of its stem with various shapes and no leaves. Particularly, it is hollow inside, so it is easy to wilt quickly.
With a passion for and experience in conquering many difficult flower types, Ms. Ha Le shares some tips for having a beautiful, long-lasting currency bouquet.
Step 1: Choose fresh flowers with rigid stems that are not wilted and have round blooming without any deformities.
Step 2: After buying the flowers, gently remove each layer of cellophane wrapping them into three different lengths.
Step 3: Choose a suitable vase. If the vase is tall with a small mouth, arrange the flowers from high to low in layers intertwined with each other. If the vase has a wide mouth, arrange the flowers from low to high. You can use foam to secure the position of the flowers better.
Ms. Ha shares that the secret to keeping currency flowers fresh for a long time is to pour a very small amount of water, just enough to submerge the root of the flower, about 3 cm. Moreover, every 1 – 2 days, take the flowers out, cut the submerged part of the stem, discard it, then rinse the vase and replace the water. The flowers will remain fresh and lasting for up to 10 days.
“Currency flowers often have various curved stems, so after arranging them in a vase, they look very natural. You can also arrange them with intertwined leaves near the mouth of the vase to make them look fuller and more lush,” Ms. Ha Le said.
