British nutritionist Jacquie Newson offers some advice on effective ways to overcome alcohol escape, according to the website femalefirst.co.uk.
Eat lots of ginger
Feeling nauseous? Alcohol can cause real discomfort to the stomach lining and can stimulate the production of acid in the stomach. That’s why we often feel nauseous and throw up a lot in the morning after a night of heavy drinking. Recent studies have found that sipping hot ginger tea throughout the day can help relieve nausea and discomfort in the stomach.
Boost natural glutathione levels
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that helps detoxify the liver after a night of excessive alcohol consumption. However, when we drink too much alcohol, our body’s glutathione levels are severely depleted. Therefore, we need to protect our liver with glutathione-rich foods such as fresh vegetables including tomatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower, as well as garlic and raw eggs.
Don’t let your body get dehydrated
Alcohol is a diuretic that, when consumed in large quantities, can cause dehydration, so make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day as hydration is the key to helping your body recover quickly after a hangover.
Supplement vitamin C
Vitamin C can enhance the liver’s detoxification capacity, so supplementing with vitamin C-rich foods such as oranges, grapefruits, etc. is essential in the list of necessities to help recover from alcohol.
