The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has launched a vaccination campaign with a target to vaccinate at least 50% of individuals aged 18 and above, expanding access to 16 priority groups and four priority provinces and cities. Let’s take a closer look at the details of this important initiative.
    1 16 Priority Groups for Covid-19 Vaccination
The Minister of Health has signed Decision No. 3355/QD-BYT on the issuance of a plan to implement the Covid-19 vaccination campaign from July 2021 to April 2022.
According to the plan, the target population for vaccination includes all individuals within the age range recommended by the vaccine manufacturer, with a priority given to frontline workers in pandemic prevention and those driving economic growth.
The 16 priority groups are as follows:
- Healthcare workers
 - Individuals involved in pandemic prevention efforts (members of the Steering Committee for Pandemic Prevention, contact tracers, quarantine facility workers, epidemiological investigators, etc.)
 - Public security forces
 - Military personnel
 - Diplomatic, customs, and immigration officers
 - Teachers and students
 - Essential service providers (aviation, transportation, tourism, electricity, water supply, etc.)
 - Individuals with chronic conditions
 - People aged 65 and above
 - Residents in areas with ongoing outbreaks
 - The poor, street vendors, construction workers, and other self-employed individuals
 - Social policy beneficiaries
 - Individuals sent by state agencies to work, study, or labor overseas
 - Religious dignitaries and officials
 - Other groups as decided by the Minister of Health or the Provincial/City People’s Committees, or as proposed by vaccine donor units to the Ministry of Health

    2 4 Priority Provinces and Cities for Covid-19 Vaccination
The Ministry of Health’s vaccination campaign will be implemented nationwide, with vaccines allocated in batches and supplied in order of priority.
The four priority provinces and cities are:
- Provinces and cities with ongoing outbreaks: Priority will be given to individuals in areas currently experiencing outbreaks.
 - Provinces and cities with a high number of industrial parks and clusters, a large number of factory workers, and dense population.
 - Border provinces and cities with significant cross-border movement and international border gates.
 - Provinces and cities in key economic regions or those implementing pilot economic development projects of the Government
