Discover 2 tons of durian treated with chemicals for faster ripening

On September 1st, the H. Di Linh Police Department (Lam Dong) announced that they had coordinated with the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team for Combating Smuggling, Commercial Fraud, and Counterfeit Goods of H. Di Linh to inspect and discover the durian purchasing facility of Mr. Hoang Van Trong (residing in Hamlet 2, Hoa Nam commune). The facility was found to be using unauthorized chemicals to soak the durians.

The interdisciplinary inspection team at the scene has drawn up a sealed record and seized over 2 tons of durian that have been soaked in chemicals (image); 13 bottles of 1,000 ml special Phytophthora fungus treatment; 4 bottles of 500 ml premium leaf fertilizer with HPC-97HXN brand; a number of chemicals and many paper bags containing yellow powder.
In addition, the functional agencies also seized 89 kg of packaging and labels with Chinese characters.
According to preliminary verification, this facility has been operating from late July 2016 until now and regularly purchases unripe durian to soak in chemicals before sending for consumption.
