Pork ribs are a favorite ingredient for many people because they can be made into many delicious and attractive dishes such as sweet and sour ribs, grilled ribs, braised ribs, steamed, stewed… Despite having less meat, they still have a certain nutritional value. Pork ribs are rich in protein, fat, vitamins, and a large amount of collagen, bone marrow… which can provide a rich source of nutrients for the human body.
That’s how good ribs are, but if you don’t know how to choose, you might end up buying poor quality ribs. The chef shares a few tips, when shopping, never choose pieces with these 3 characteristics:
1. Pork ribs that are too wet on the surface
The price of pork is rising, so it’s unavoidable that poor quality ribs are mixed with good ribs for sale. Therefore, when buying ribs, pay attention to the surface. If the surface of the ribs is too wet, it may have been injected with water. Or if you touch it and feel that the ribs are cold, it means they are not fresh. Therefore, do not buy ribs with these characteristics.
2. Ribs with a sticky surface
When buying ribs at the market or supermarket, it’s best not to choose pieces with a excessively sticky and greasy surface. These ribs indicate that they have been stored for a long time and are no longer fresh.
3. Ribs that are not elastic
When we buy ribs, press your finger on the meat part of the ribs to see if the meat is elastic. If the meat is elastic, it means that the ribs are firm, fresh, and still new.
On the contrary, if the ribs are not elastic and the meat is loose, it indicates that the quality of these ribs is relatively poor and the nutritional value is reduced. Therefore, do not buy ribs that lack this elasticity.
