Exploring the beauty of Ha Giang.
The journey to discover Ha Giang becomes more exciting as travelers conquer Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the four greatest passes in Vietnam. From here, a panoramic view of the Nho Que river, meandering through the mountains and forests, creates a poetic and grandiose natural painting.
Ha Giang not only boasts breathtaking natural scenery but also captivates with the diverse cultures of ethnic groups such as the Hmong and Lo Lo. Colorful highland markets, unique traditional festivals, and the opportunity to enjoy local specialties like ‘thang co’ (a traditional Vietnamese dish made from horse meat) and ‘lap xuong gac bep’ (smoked sausage) leave lasting impressions.
A trip to Ha Giang is an emotional journey where you not only admire the beautiful scenery but also experience the simple and authentic lifestyle of the locals, creating memorable experiences.
Tran Thi My Linh, a 24-year-old woman from Ha Tinh province, currently works in Da Nang. She graduated with a degree in English Language – Tourism English from the University of Foreign Languages in Da Nang. After working at an international 5-star resort, she developed a passion for travel and exploring new destinations, both within Vietnam and abroad.
My Linh’s recent 4-day trip to Ha Giang left her with wonderful impressions of the land and its people in the ‘stone flower’ region.
“For a long time, I had cherished the dream of exploring the northernmost region of Vietnam, the country’s frontier, where the red and gold flag proudly flies at Lung Cu peak,” she shared.

“This journey was not just a vacation but also a way for me to reward myself after a busy period. Standing on the winding mountain passes and admiring the beauty of the Dong Van Karst Plateau and the emerald Nho Que river made all my fatigue disappear,” she added.
Especially, at Ma Pi Leng peak, when she gazed into the vast nature, she felt her smallness in the grand scheme of things but also realized the significance of daring to overcome challenges to fulfill her dreams.”
The trip to Ha Giang was not just a journey to breathtaking landscapes but also a journey of self-discovery. She realized that sometimes, instead of waiting for the “perfect time,” having a willing heart and a strong passion is enough to make any journey memorable.
During her stay in Ha Giang, the weather was pleasant, ranging from 14-16 degrees Celsius. The natural scenery, mountains, and local people were all wonderful and humble, leaving her in awe several times.
The locals were kind and welcoming. On the passes, she also witnessed children walking to school and elderly people working hard on the hills, which made her realize the difficulties of life in this remote region. However, the innocent waves and smiles of the children warmed her heart.
Experiencing the Unique Attractions of Ha Giang
During their 4-day stay in Ha Giang, the travelers had the opportunity to visit and explore the beauty of Quan Ba Heaven Gate, Co Tien Twin Mountains, Tam Ma Slope, Chuyen Cua Pao, Dong Van Ancient Town market, Lung Cu Flag Tower, Lo Lo Chai village, Ma Pi Leng Pass, Nho Que River, and Pa Vi Hmong village…
Among these destinations, the Lung Cu Flag Tower, marking the northernmost point of Vietnam, left a deep impression on her. She was fortunate to participate in the flag-raising ceremony at noon, filling her with pride for her country. Additionally, she met many foreign travelers and had conversations in English, all of whom praised the beauty and uniqueness of Vietnam.
She also recalled the memorable experience of taking a boat trip on the Nho Que River and having lunch at Tu San gorge. Apart from herself and her Vietnamese friend, the boat mainly accommodated foreign travelers. They politely bowed when taking photos, which she found adorable. Surrounded by the vast nature, she felt the perfect blend of sky, mountains, and river, creating a wonderful experience.
“I also had memorable experiences riding a motorbike for 3-4 hours from Ha Giang city to various tourist attractions. As someone who loves experiential and exploratory travel, despite the fatigue from riding, I was able to immerse myself in the beauty of the mountains, nature, and local life,” My Linh expressed.
In Ha Giang, she also experienced the unique “specialty” of the pass roads. Ha Giang is famous not only for its pristine natural scenery but also for its reputation as a “paradise” for majestic mountain passes.
Ma Pi Leng Pass, Tam Ma Slope, and other passes present challenges and rewards with breathtaking landscapes along the way, including rice terraces, peaceful ethnic minority villages, and vast tam giac mach flower fields.
A breathtaking view.
“The journey to discover the passes of Ha Giang is not just a physical journey but also an emotional one. It’s a chance to challenge yourself, immerse in nature, and truly appreciate the majestic beauty of Vietnam’s mountains. Ha Giang is incredibly beautiful; everyone should experience it!” My Linh exclaimed.
If you’re seeking a place to create vibrant memories of your youth, Ha Giang is the perfect choice. This northern frontier captivates not only with its majestic natural scenery but also with the emotional experiences it offers, unlike anywhere else.
Ha Giang is not a place you visit once and forget; it’s a place you remember with happiness. It’s where you live with your emotions, where your youthful steps leave imprints on the paths, and where you realize that there’s still so much to explore in the world.
“Visiting Ha Giang, as Den Vau said, ‘Because our country is still unfamiliar, why go abroad? To set foot in all the regions of our country is our lifelong dream,'” My Linh added.
