Pork liver is one of the internal organs of the pig that many people enjoy, but cleaning it can be a bit tricky.

Pork liver can be prepared into delicious dishes such as grilled, fried, deep-fried, stir-fried, boiled, stuffed… Each method of preparing pork liver brings its own enticing flavor.

Pork liver is tasty, but it is originally a place that contains pig waste, so it often has a very unpleasant odor.

If you don’t know how to clean pork liver, it will definitely make many people unable to eat it.

Many people use various condiments such as salt, vinegar, lime… to clean the liver. However, chefs believe that you don’t need so many ingredients like that. There is a very easy-to-buy powder that helps to clean pork liver, so what is that powder, let’s refer to the method below.

Preparing to clean pork liver:

Pork liver, cornstarch.

How to clean pork liver:

First, use a knife to cut off the fatty part that sticks around the liver, then pour water into the liver. Continue to turn the inside face (the face with a lot of mucus, dirt) of the liver out.

Put the liver into a large basin, then scoop two spoons of cornstarch into it. Cornstarch has the advantage of not sticking like wheat flour but still has the function of absorbing dirt similar to wheat flour.

In addition, cornstarch is a coarse grain, coarser than wheat flour, so it can remove mucus and dirt on the surface of the liver. Use your hands to knead the liver evenly so that the cornstarch sticks evenly, then it will absorb the dirt on this surface of the liver and make them fall off easily.

The liver that has been rubbed with cornstarch is very clean, there is no need to knead for a long time and rub several times, saving time and effort.

After cleaning one surface with mucus on the liver, turn the liver over and clean the remaining fat, hold the liver with both hands, knead the cornstarch up and down, and the excess fat will easily fall off.

Clean the mucus and fat, the bad smell of the liver will be gone, so the most important thing to do pork liver at home is to be absolutely clean, something that restaurants cannot do.

After removing the fat and mucus, rinse the liver several times with clean water, the liver will be white and clean. At this step, you can quickly squeeze the liver with a little lemon juice, a bit of salt to make it fragrant and then rinse it again (as you like).

Wish you success in cleaning pork liver

You can use a natural, yellow powder called ‘Bengal gram’ or ‘besan’ to absorb and eliminate bad odors. Simply sprinkle a small amount of the powder onto the source of the smell, such as a carpet, sofa, or even your car, and let it sit for a few hours before vacuuming it up. For stronger odors, you can mix the powder with a little baking soda and essential oils before applying.

Bengal gram powder, also known as besan or gram flour, is readily available in most grocery stores, especially in the international or ethnic food aisles. You can also find it in health food stores, Asian markets, or online through various retailers.

Bengal gram is a natural absorbent, drawing in and trapping odor particles. It is also slightly alkaline, which helps to neutralize acidic odors. Additionally, when mixed with baking soda and essential oils, the powder can provide a pleasant fragrance that further masks unpleasant smells.

Yes, Bengal gram powder has a variety of uses beyond odor elimination. It is commonly used in Indian cuisine for making breads and desserts, and it can also be used as a natural skin exfoliant and hair cleanser. Some people even use it as a non-toxic alternative to commercial cleaning products.

A little goes a long way with this powder. For most applications, a light sprinkling of the powder is sufficient. For example, for a standard-sized room, a few tablespoons should be enough. You can always add more if needed, but it’s best to start with a conservative amount to avoid wasting the powder.
