Use sugar
When you want to keep fresh flowers for a long time, you can provide them with additional nutrients.
Sugar is one of the little tricks that helps keep flowers fresh longer. You can use 2 tablespoons of sugar or 1/4 can of carbonated water in the flower water, which increases the photosynthesis process to help flowers last longer.
Use vitamin B1
If you want to keep flowers fresh longer, you can also crush a vitamin B1 tablet, which can be used for 1 liter of water and then put it in the flower vase. Sugar and B1 help flowers absorb and retain water in the stem, making the flowers last longer. However, this method is most effective for stiff-stemmed flowers like roses, chrysanthemums, and carnations.
Apple cider vinegar, lemon, and aspirin
When you want to keep flowers fresh longer, use a mixture of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, or aspirin. Here’s how: mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar into 1 liter of water to increase the acidity level. Using a few dissolved aspirin tablets in the water also has a similar effect.
Keep flowers blooming as desired
When you want the flowers to bloom on the exact day of the holiday, you just need to soak the flowers in warm water for a few minutes if they are too bud. If the flowers are wilted, soaking them in cold water for a few hours will help revive them.
In addition, if you want to keep the flowers in their original shape, without letting them bloom too big and shed petals, you can use hairspray. Hold the spray bottle about 30cm away from the flowers and spray over the bouquet to make the flowers bloom as you wish.
