Sweating is often thought to cause body odor, but that’s not entirely true. In fact, sweating is natural and even beneficial for the body. Body odor is the result of bacteria buildup on the skin and the release of chemicals that ultimately cause an unpleasant smell.
Body odor can occur in different areas of the body such as the feet, groin, armpits, genital area, pubic hair, groin, anus, and even behind the ears. Among these, armpit odor is the most common.
There are many factors contributing to the occurrence of body odor in both men and women, including: Diet (eating foods like red meat, strong-smelling spices like garlic, onions, and curry, along with a large amount of caffeine and alcohol…) or being sick, taking certain medications, genetic factors, menopause, low blood sugar levels, kidney disease, low metabolic rate, hyperthyroidism, alcoholism, dental cavities, and lack of zinc or magnesium in the body, even lack of personal hygiene…
To eliminate body odor in general and armpit odor in particular, the most important thing is to reduce the chances of bacteria surviving on the skin.
You may have heard of remedies for armpit odor such as: Showering daily, wearing loose-fitting, breathable clothing, using odor-fighting products made from chemicals… These remedies can help eliminate unpleasant odor under the armpits at that time but do not have a lasting effect on the root cause of the problem.
You can try some natural remedies to treat armpit odor as follows:
– Fresh ginger: Rinse clean fresh ginger, crush it, then squeeze the juice using a clean cloth, remove the residue. Use pure ginger juice to apply to the armpit area, several times a day.
– Bitter gourd: Crush bitter gourd leaves, take the extract and apply it directly to the armpits (after cleaning the armpit area). You can also use the residue of bitter gourd leaves to bandage the armpit when sleeping to minimize odor.
– Tomato: Squeeze the juice of 1 tomato and mix it with warm water. Then use that water to clean the armpit area for 30 minutes, apply 2-3 times a week.
– Turnip: Cut the turnip into slices and apply them under the armpits, do it 1-2 times a day.
If you find these methods difficult to implement, try applying simpler methods like in the clip to eliminate the unpleasant armpit odor.
