Alexandra Carlton’s Celery Juice Experiment: An Australian Woman’s 4-Week Journey
Alexandra Carlton, an Australian woman, embarked on a 4-week journey of drinking celery juice and documented her body’s transformation. It all started when she stumbled upon a series of Instagram posts and the blog The Medical Medium by Anthony William, the creator of the global celery juice movement.

After a period of unhealthy eating during the Melbourne Cup celebrations in her hometown, Carlton noticed a decline in her health. She decided to drink about 470ml of celery juice every morning on an empty stomach, 15-30 minutes before eating. Here’s what she experienced during the four weeks.
Week 1
On the first day, as she didn’t own a juicer, Carlton purchased fresh celery juice from a nearby cafe. Her initial impression of the green drink was that it tasted bland and had an unpleasant odor. Additionally, she didn’t notice any significant changes in her digestion.
By the third day, however, she began to urinate more frequently, and her skin felt softer and more supple. Strangely, the bumps around her jawline that had been there for years disappeared.
Week 2
The most noticeable and positive change occurred in Carlton’s skin. This could be attributed to the abundance of vitamins and minerals found in celery, such as vitamin A, iron, magnesium, caffeic acid, tannin, and kaempferol. These nutrients help fight free radicals and enhance the activity of white blood cells, keeping the skin hydrated, radiant, and supple.
Drinking celery juice every morning became a routine for Carlton. She even purchased a juicer to make her own juice at home. She felt increasingly energized each morning and believed that her body was detoxifying.
Week 3
Carlton replaced her morning coffee with celery juice and believed that she could eventually quit caffeine. During this time, it was also the Christmas season, and despite the continuous festivities, she didn’t experience headaches, nausea, or dizziness when intoxicated as she used to. Additionally, her insomnia symptoms improved.
Week 4
Although Carlton hoped that celery juice would help her lose weight miraculously, her weight remained relatively unchanged. There are two main reasons for this.
Firstly, nutritionists often recommend adopting a diet rich in green vegetables alongside daily juicing, which proved challenging for Carlton.
Secondly, conducting the experiment during Christmas and New Year, a time filled with indulgent meals and unhealthy drinks, made weight loss nearly impossible. While celery may be a “superfood” with numerous benefits, it is not a magical solution for rapid weight loss.
We often hear about the weight loss benefits of celery, but in Carlton’s case, it didn’t lead to significant weight loss. During the experiment, she couldn’t diet due to the festive season’s abundant food and drinks. While celery is undoubtedly a superfood with myriad benefits, it is not a miracle cure for weight loss without dietary changes.
If you’re not a fan of the taste of fresh celery, you can try celery juice powder as a convenient and tasty alternative.
So, there you have it! Celery juice can indeed be beneficial for your skin and digestion. Why not give it a try and include it in your daily routine?
