On July 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade and the Ninh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade signed an agreement with the largest off-taker to collaborate with Ninh Thuan province’s suppliers in distributing and off-taking grapes and green apples from local farmers. This is the largest off-taking contract for these two agricultural products of Ninh Thuan.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Sanh, Deputy Director of Ninh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade, said that Ninh Thuan province currently has a total grape-growing area of over 980 hectares, with a yield of nearly 15,000 tons, and about 110 hectares of apple cultivation, yielding nearly 26,000 tons. More than 182 products have been recognized with the OCOP label of 3 stars and above, of which apples and grapes account for 36% of the output, with 66 products processed from these two types of fruits.

In reality, many Vietnamese agricultural products and fruits, including Ninh Thuan apples and grapes, face strong competition from imported products. With the connection between the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade and Ninh Thuan province, this off-taking collaboration will boost the output of these two products, helping Ninh Thuan’s specialties gain a competitive edge, enhancing their reputation in the market, and opening up a more professional path for local farmers.
Over 182 products recognized with the OCOP label of 3 stars and above
Mr. Dau Nhu Anh, our Fruit Category Purchasing Director, shared that this is the third year that the enterprise has been off-taking fruits for the province. In the first six months of 2024, on average, we sold 350 tons of fruits per month, with a peak of over 400 tons of grapes and apples, equivalent to approximately 4,000 tons annually. The expected procurement volume for the 2024-2025 period is expected to reach more than 5,000 tons per year.
From the supplier’s perspective, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, representing Ngoc Ha Phuoc Thuan Company Limited, shared that bringing grapes and apples into the supermarket system has significantly boosted output. In the three years since Ninh Thuan’s grapes and apples were introduced in supermarkets, the company’s output has doubled compared to when they self-distributed their products.
