1 Passport Issuance/Renewal Cases
Can a valid passport be renewed?
If your passport is valid for less than 6 months, you are eligible for a new passport with a 10-year validity. However, if your passport is valid for more than 6 months, you can only renew it for the remaining validity period.

What to do if your passport is full?
If your passport is full, you will need to apply for a new passport at a cost of 200,000 VND. The procedure is similar to renewing an expired passport.
Damaged or Lost Passport
In the event of a lost passport, within 48 hours, you must report it to the nearest immigration control agency using form M08 to invalidate the lost passport. The typical fee for this is 400,000 VND. Finally, follow the regulations to apply for a new passport.

2 Online Passport Application Procedure
Simply schedule an online appointment and fill out the passport application form (X01). The applicant will then go to the Bureau/Room of Immigration Management to complete the procedures for taking photos, fingerprinting, paying fees, and receiving their passport as usual, with their photo attached.

Note: Children from 0 to under 14 years old must obtain confirmation from the Ward/Commune People’s Committee in the X01 form with a pasted photo. Bring the original birth certificate and household registration book, along with 2 certified copies and 2 photos (4×6 size). There is no need to bring the children to the passport office.

If you wish to keep your old passport when renewing due to expiration, fullness, etc.: In Section 14 – “Details of the application, if any,” write “Keep the old passport”
Schedule an appointment and then print a copy to submit with your application.
Step 2: Prepare the Application Package
The application package includes:
- Application Form X01 (Completed in Step 1)
- Original CCCD (If using a 9-digit ID card, go to the ward/commune police – where the permanent residence is registered, to get confirmation on the X1 form with a pasted photo => Then take the declaration and household registration book to apply for a passport)
- Original temporary residence book (if applying at the place of temporary residence)
- Old passport (will be returned)
- In case of reporting a lost passport, submit a loss report: Form X08

Step 3: Submit the Application
Submit the application at the Immigration Management Room (44 Pham Ngoc Thach, Dong Da / 6 Quang Trung, Ha Dong)
Procedure: Submit your ID card at the counter => Wait to be called for a photo (re-fill the form if it cannot be found, which takes a few minutes)
After taking the photo => The officer will guide you to print the declaration with a code, barcode, and serial number.
Pay the fee of 20,000 VND => Wait to be called.
Receive the result at the counter and pay the procedure fee of 200,000 VND, or you can authorize the post office to receive it on your behalf for a fee of 10,000 VND.
Note: For adults, it is mandatory to take the photo at the public security agency.
3 Direct Passport Application Procedure
Step 1: Prepare Documents for Passport Application
- Passport Application Form X01: Complete all information and sign
- 2 new 4×6 photos with a straight face, bareheaded, and a white background
- Long-term temporary residence book KT3: For people from other provinces who do not have a citizen ID card
- ID card or citizen ID card that is still valid
- Old passport that is damaged or valid for less than 30 days (will be returned)
- Loss report: Form X08 (in case of reporting loss)
Step 2: Submit the Passport Application
Submit the application at the Hanoi Immigration Management Police at 44 Pham Ngoc Thach, Dong Da, Hanoi
Or at the Immigration Management Bureau at 44-46 Tran Phu, Dien Bien, Ba Dinh
Working hours: Monday to Friday
