– For citizens born in the 20th century (from 1900 to 1999): Male = 0, Female = 1

– For citizens born in the 21st century (from 2000 to 2099): Male = 2, Female = 3

Birth Year Code

The last two digits of the birth year of the citizen are used as the birth year code.

For example, if your Personal Identity Card number is: 079097000123, then:
– 079 is the code for Ho Chi Minh City
– 0 indicates male gender, born in the 20th century
– 97 indicates the citizen was born in 1997
– 000123 is a random sequence of numbers.

So, you only need to memorize the last 6 digits, and you don’t have to remember the first 6 digits if you understand the rules.

Frequently asked questions

The new format for the Centralized Civil Registry System (CCRS) identification number, also known as the CCCD number, has been updated to a 12-digit code, consisting of the individual’s date of birth in the format ‘YYYYMMDD’, followed by a unique 4-digit number.

The change was implemented by the Philippine Statistics Authority to streamline civil registry information and improve data management. The new 12-digit format is designed to be more secure and efficient, reducing the risk of errors and duplication.

Remembering the new CCCD number can be challenging due to its random 4-digit code. A useful hack is to associate the 4-digit code with something memorable. For instance, you could use the last 4 digits of your phone number, a significant year in your life, or a lucky number combination. By linking it to something personal, you’re more likely to recall the number when needed.

Your updated CCCD number should be available on your latest PSA-issued birth certificate. It will be printed on the front page, usually at the bottom, and will be labeled as ‘CCRS No.’ or ‘CCCD No.’.

If you don’t have a recent copy of your birth certificate with the new CCCD number, you can obtain one by requesting a new PSA birth certificate. This can be done online through the PSA Helpline website or in person at a PSA Serbilis Center.
