Eating slowly
A simple concept in weight loss is to eat slower and consume fewer calories, but very few of us actually do that. An evaluation of eating speed and kilojoule consumption was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, which showed the correlation between eating speed and calorie intake, indicating that many of us just need to eat slower if we want to eat less.
So, the general rule for weight loss is to extend the main meal for at least 20 minutes and increase salad and vegetables in the meal.
Not being distracted while eating
This method is also simple: when you sit down and focus only on eating, you not only consume fewer calories in that meal but also eat less throughout the day. A study on eating behavior published in the journal Appetite showed that dieters consumed more calories during their lunch while watching TV compared to dieters who were not distracted by other activities.
Having smaller portion sizes
Researchers at the University of Cambridge recently conducted an evaluation of eating habits and reported that simply choosing a smaller plate or bowl to eat from will result in consuming fewer kilojoules.
