Mushy rice. When you smell mushy rice, immediately turn off the heat, put a piece of bread crust into the pot and cover it. The bread crust will absorb the smell of mush in the rice.
– Pour cold water into a bowl, place it in the middle of the pot, press the water bowl down so that the rim of the bowl is level with the surface of the rice, then cover it, adjust the heat to low and let the rice sit for about 1 – 2 minutes, then open the lid, the rice will have less smell of mush.
– As soon as you hear the rice has a mushy smell, immediately put the pot of rice into cold water or place the pot of rice on the ground and pour cold water in, after 3 minutes, the smell of mush in the rice will be gone.
– Remove the pot of rice, open the lid, put in 3 – 5 stalks of fresh spring onion, then cover it again. After a few minutes, remove the spring onion from the pot, the smell of mush will be gone.
– If you have charcoal, when you smell the rice has a mushy smell, take a burning piece of charcoal and put it in a bowl, place it in the pot of rice, then cover it tightly. About 10 minutes later, open the lid, take out the bowl of charcoal, the charcoal will absorb all the smell of mush.
Hard rice. If the rice is hard because of lack of water, simply poke multiple holes on the surface with a chopstick, then sprinkle some warm water into the pot and continue cooking. For pots of hard rice, it is not recommended to open the lid too many times as it will release a lot of heat, making the rice difficult to soften.
Mushy rice. In the case of mushy rice, bread crumbs are an excellent savior. Tear some pieces of bread crumbs and put them on the surface of the rice, and keep opening the lid to prevent water from collecting on the lid. When the rice is cooked, scoop it onto a plate to let the steam evaporate, the rice will be less mushy.
Undercooked rice. If unfortunately the rice is undercooked due to lack of heat or water, quickly transfer the rice to another pot, pour a little white wine over the rice, then put it on a small flame until the wine evaporates, the rice will be cooked.
