Using anti-rust spray

Before removing the oil stain, you need to understand what type of material your car seat is made of. Typically, cars have three main types of materials used for seats: fabric, leather, or vinyl.

WD-40 (anti-rust spray) can clean both fabric upholstery and car carpets. If there is an oil stain on the fabric upholstery, you should use a bit of paper towel or an old cloth to remove it, then apply a small amount of WD-40 on the oil stain.

Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, then use a facial towel or paper towel to blot, and repeat the process until the stain is gone.

If it is a fresh and not yet dried oil stain, you should sprinkle cornstarch or talcum powder on it, let it sit for 8-10 hours, and vacuum it with a dry or wet vacuum cleaner. If you don’t have both types of machines, use a household vacuum cleaner to extract the water. You can repeat that process multiple times for better results.

– Use a soft brush or cloth to gently brush the area.

Note:

Before applying any cleaning method, test it on a small area of the interior to ensure it doesn’t damage the material.

The sooner you clean the oil stain, the easier it is to remove. Don’t let the oil stain penetrate deep into the upholstery.

When cleaning the oil stain, make sure to clean the entire surface to avoid blotchy or uneven color.
