Asayake and Yuyake are two popular massages in Japan. To achieve the best results, the movements should be performed from bottom to top, from inside to outside, and from the center of the face.
Asayake Massage
Asayake in Japanese means “bright morning.” To perform the Asayake massage, you should cold your palms before massaging to awaken and tighten the skin. Repeat each step in the massage 5 times.
– Step 1: Apply moisturizer to your hands and spread it evenly on the face.
– Step 2: Gently massage along the neck using both hands.
– Step 3: Massage from the chin upward along the jawbone. Massage and gently press.
– Step 4: Place your fingers on both sides of the nose and slide them outwards towards the ears.
– Step 5: Place your fingers on the eyebrows and massage from this position upwards to the hairline.
Yuyake Massage
Yuyake brings a “relaxing evening” with movements that help reduce tension and detoxify through the lymphatic system.
To perform the Yuyake massage, first, rub your palms together to warm them up. Then repeat each step in the massage 5 times.
– Step 1: Place your fingers on the hairline on the forehead and move your fingers up and down over the top of the head.
– Step 2: Apply moisturizer to your hands. Press your fingers on the inner corner of the eyebrows and slide your fingers along the eyebrows, towards the outside, stopping just before the temple.
– Step 3: Press the index and middle fingers into the hollows of the nose and move them to the sides along the cheekbones, towards the ears.
– Step 4: Place your fingers behind the ears and move them along the jaw and neck down to the occipital bone. This downward motion is the only movement in the massage to stimulate lymphatic drainage.
