In addition, they cannot message or call you, and you won’t appear in their searches on Facebook.

What does Facebook do when you block someone?

When you block someone, the first thing Facebook does is restrict the blocked user’s access to your profile. They won’t be able to view your profile even if they have a direct link to your account page. They will receive an error message if they try to do so.

If the user searches for your name on Facebook, you won’t appear in the search results. However, if they have logged out of their own account or are using a different Facebook account, they may be able to view your profile, depending on the privacy settings of that profile. This is also the case if the user tries to find you through other search engines, such as Google. If you want to minimize the risk of your profile being found through those avenues, take steps to make your Facebook profile harder to find.

The person you block will not be able to view any of your posts, comments, or likes. They cannot create new posts on your timeline, leave comments, or like any of the content you post. You also cannot do these things for their account.

In Facebook Messenger, the blocked user cannot chat or call you.

What will you see when you block someone on Facebook?

While the person you have blocked will virtually disappear from your Facebook news feed, there are a few things you may still be able to see from them.

First is any existing conversations you have had with that user. You and the blocked user can still view each other’s chat messages, but neither of you can send new messages. You can delete these Facebook messages if you wish.

Second, if a blocked account tags a mutual friend of yours in a post, you will see that post on your own timeline. You will also see any photos and tags from the blocked profile that others have added.

For groups, the blocked user cannot add you to new groups, but you can continue to be a member of groups they have created or joined.

If you use apps or games on Facebook, the platform’s standard policies will not apply to them. This means that if you and your blocked user play a game, for example, they may be able to chat with you through that game’s chat feature.

On Facebook Marketplace, if you block a seller, that seller can still access your reviews for them and respond to those reviews.

Finally, if your blocked user creates a new Facebook account, they may use that new account to view public posts on your profile. One way to prevent this is by locking your Facebook profile.
