Steps to Change Your Driving License Online at Home
Step 1: Access the website of the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam to enter your information: https://dichvucong.gplx.gov.vn/faces/registration/home.xhtml
Step 2: Select the information to register online as follows:
– Administrative procedures:
- Level 3 public service to change driver’s license: Applicable to holders of driving licenses managed by the transport sector, valid or overdue for less than 3 months.
- Public service level 4 international driving license: Vietnamese people, foreigners who have permanent residence cards in Vietnam, have a national driving license issued by Vietnam with PET material, still valid.
– Handling agency: Choose the Department of Transport – Transport in your province or the area closest to your residence.
– Receiving location: Depending on the agency you choose, there will be a different receiving address.
After selecting the above 3 boxes, click on the ” ONLINE REGISTRATION ” box, wait for the page to load, and proceed to fill in the required information.
Step 3: Enter information about your online driving license renewal application
Driver’s License Information
In this section, enter your National License Number (combination of letters and numbers). Click ” Search ” to continue.
- If your information is found, the system will automatically fill in other information (name, address, etc.) in the corresponding fields.
- If your information cannot be found, you cannot register online and must go directly to the authorities to resolve the issue.
Scroll down to find the option to Pair More License Numbers if you need to add more, otherwise you can skip this item.
Change of Information Requested:
Enter this field if you want to change information about your ID number, address of residence, or permanent residence.
Note the address: When entering the ‘Residence’ information, enter the name of the Ward/Commune and choose from the displayed list. When entering ‘Detailed address’ information, enter the house number, lane/alley, and street name. If the system cannot find it, it means you entered it incorrectly.
If you do not want to change any information, you can skip this section.
Profile Component Item:
This section includes 3 types of documents which are required when doing the procedure to change your license.
Attach data files in the form of photos or in the form of docx, xls, xlsx, pdf, png, jpg, jpeg, gif (file size is not larger than 5MB) in the corresponding boxes for the license, ID card, and health certificate. Alternatively, you can take a photo or use a scanned file to attach.
Note: Only in the case of changing a paper-covered license to a PET-based license, the health certificate exemption applies to:
- Holders of A1, A2, A3 class licenses.
- Holders of A4 class license, car license with a validity period of more than 3 months.
Registration Processing Time:
Select the date and time you want to register with the settlement agency to complete the procedure. If the chosen time frame already has multiple pre-registrations, you will receive an overload notification and should choose a different time frame.
Contact Info:
In this section, enter your correct contact information for the driver license renewal agency to use for contacting you.
After entering all the required information, double-check for accuracy, then select “Register” to submit your application.
Step 4: If the registration is successful, you will receive a verification code sent to the email or phone number you provided in the contact section. Enter the verification code in the blank box displayed on the screen and click the “Send Profile” button.
You will be prompted to enter the verification code again. Once done, you will receive the following message:
“You have successfully registered your profile online! Please save the application code and verification code to check the processing progress of the application.”
Instructions to check the application progress
After successful registration, wait for 2 to 3 days and then go to the website to change your license to check the progress.
Step 1: Go back to the website and click on the button “Look up file progress”.
Step 2: Enter the application code and the phone number you provided during registration. Click the “Search” button.
In the results section, if the status of your application is “Verified”, it means that the officer has accepted your online application as valid. You will also receive an email notification confirming the application and providing details of the processing appointment.
Usually, within about 3 days, you will receive confirmation of your valid application or a notice of refusal if the application is invalid. If your application is rejected, you can correct your profile information and resubmit.
Step 4: Attend the appointment and complete the online driver license renewal procedure
Once your application is confirmed, make sure to arrive on time for the appointment. Bring your identity card or passport (for foreigners) for verification, and bring all the required documents including:
- An application form for change or re-issuance of a driving license, according to the given form.
- Copy of current driving license.
- Health certificate appropriate to the class of vehicle being driven, issued by a competent medical facility (if necessary).
Note:
If you cannot attend the scheduled appointment, the system will automatically send a rejection notice via email. To reschedule your appointment, go to the Look up the progress of your profile, then edit the appointment and click Save and send.
You can only edit your appointment up to 3 times. If you still cannot attend on time, you will have to re-register from the beginning.
When you arrive at the appointment at the registered time, present the original documents for verification, pay the fee of 135,000 VND, have your photo taken, and after 2 hours, you will receive a new driving license.
