Some following tips can help you avoid this discomfort.
Avoid chili spiciness when cutting chili
– When cutting chili, to avoid chili sticking to your hands and causing burns, cut a slice of potato and rub it evenly on both sides of the knife or put the chili in the refridgerator’s freezer for 10 minutes or soak the chili in a bowl of ice water, then take it out and cut it normally. A simpler way is to place a bucket of cold water next to you, cutting chili while dipping the knife into the bucket.
– If unfortunately the chili sticks to your hands, rub some sugar on your hands or where it sticks, then wash with soap and rinse with cold water. Vinegar or white wine can also be used to apply to the hands and then rinse with clean water, the spiciness will slowly disappear. Another interesting way that many housewives apply is to soak their hands in warm saltwater after cutting.
Reduce the spiciness of chili
– If accidentally biting a spicy piece of chili, water is the fastest remedy that most people turn to. However, water cannot soothe the burning sensation on the tongue and throat because chili contains capsaicin substance that stimulates sensory cells in the mouth, nose and stomach. To reduce spiciness, just eat a few spoonfuls of yogurt or drink a glass of milk. The casein in dairy products will quickly dissolve the capsaicin substance of chili.
In addition, bread, rice, or chocolate can also effectively reduce spiciness.
