1. Choose the wrong skincare products
– For dry skin: Skincare products should contain moisturizing ingredients and should not contain high levels of cleansing agents or hydrolyzed oils.
– For oily skin: Products for this skin type should have moisturizing ingredients but should also choose types that do not cause acne. Choose moisturizing products with a light texture such as moisturizing serums or lightweight moisturizers. Especially avoid skincare products that contain mineral oil, cocoa butter, lanolin, and fats…
– For combination skin: Use products for oily skin on the T-zone area of the face. Use products for dry skin on the remaining area.
2. Cleanse the skin incorrectly
If you cleanse your skin incorrectly every day and still use skincare products, your skin will not improve but will become worse and waste your skincare products.
Therefore, the cleansing step such as makeup remover (even if not wearing makeup) – cleansing milk is extremely important in the evening.
Clothes, pillowcases, makeup sponges/brushes also need to be replaced/washed regularly. These items contain a lot of bacteria, which can cause acne.
3. Leaving makeup on the skin for too long
Whether light or heavy makeup, you should not leave this makeup layer on the face for too long. Because this makeup layer will clog pores, preventing sebum secretion, causing dryness, damage, and even inflammation of the skin…
Therefore, after returning home, you need to remove makeup immediately and take care of your skin before going to bed in the evening.
4. Not applying enough sunscreen
If you do not apply enough sunscreen during the day, the effectiveness will not be high.
To maximize the effectiveness of sunscreen in protecting the skin, choose a suitable sunscreen for your skin type and apply the recommended amount, creating even and thick coverage on the skin. The standard amount of sunscreen needed to protect the skin is about 2mg/cm², equivalent to a small coin for the entire face.
5. Using face masks too frequently
Under normal conditions, we can use face masks 2 times/week, in dry seasons, we can use them only 3 times/week. Depending on the type of mask, it can be applied for about 20-30 minutes. Even sheet masks should not be applied for more than 30 minutes.
If you overuse face masks too frequently as well as cleanse your face too much, it can make your skin more sensitive and damaged.
In addition, the diet should eliminate foods that are harmful to the skin such as spicy foods, stimulants, oily and fast foods, processed foods… Eat plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, and supplement enough protein, vitamin A, B, C, D, E, and minerals. Drink enough water (2-2.5 liters/day).
