Originally a model, Ho Ngoc Ha has recently become a mentor on The Mentor. She and her students collaborated on a fashion photoshoot that embodies Vietnamese culture. The photoshoot is titled Saigon – The Jewel of the Far East.
Ho Ngoc Ha revealed that the idea for the “Saigon – The Jewel of the Far East” photoshoot came to her while she was touring in the US. The entertainment queen stated: “When I was in the US, I thought about something very Vietnamese. The team behind the photoshoot consists entirely of Vietnamese individuals, including designer Lam Gia Khang, photographer Milor Tran, stylist Kye Nguyen…
In this series of photos, Ho Ngoc Ha and her students are not wearing traditional outfits, but instead modern clothing. This is because the team wanted to depict the beauty of the city and showcase the fusion between old and modern Saigon.
Ho Ngoc Ha and the members of the team explored famous tourist attractions in Saigon such as Ben Thanh Market, Saigon Central Post Office, Independence Palace, and Saigon Opera House… The photoshoot also captured the entertainment queen and her students alongside iconic features that evoke nostalgia for Saigon, such as the blue vespa and street vendors. These images bring back memories of the old Saigon, the Jewel of the Far East.
The photoshoot was also inspired by Saigon’s unique cinematic beauty, aiming to revisit the distinctive charm of the “Jewel of the Far East”. Ho Ngoc Ha chose locations with ancient architectural structures and preserved historical elements despite the passing of time.
Ha Ho wants to promote tourism in Vietnam in general, and in Saigon in particular. She wants to showcase the Jewel of the Far East to international visitors, a source of great pride for us. 6 models in Ho Ngoc Ha’s team happily collaborated with their mentor to create this photoshoot.
