On Instagram, South Korean fashion blogger Won-min shared that her waist remains flat and defined whether she weighs 47 kg, 52 kg, or 58 kg. So how can you gain weight without affecting your waistline? Let’s find out together!

1 Resistance training

Won-min shares that  are more effective  in improving your physique.  Cardio only burns fat,  while  resistance training (strength training)  directly targets your muscles,  helping you build muscle and increase strength.

For optimal results, Won-min  incorporates various gym equipment  during her workouts. When working out at home, she prioritizes exercises like , crunches, glute bridges…

According to CNN, resistance exercises  (using weights, resistance bands, machines, or bodyweight)  provide numerous health benefits.  These exercises help  increase muscle strength, endurance, and bone density,  while also  reducing the risk of falls and fractures  in older adults, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Tommy Lundberg,  a Swedish exercise researcher, says  resistance training can also effectively manage blood sugar levels,  making it particularly beneficial for people with diabetes  or insulin resistance. This benefit stems from  increased muscle activity,  which helps the  body use insulin more efficiently.

2 Reduce carbs and sugar, increase protein intake

Won-min succeeded in losing belly fat and improving her overall physique by **eliminating processed foods**  from her daily diet. Instead, she  **focused on increasing protein intake**  to build muscle.

Won-min  **eats smaller portions**  and  **gradually reduces food intake**  to control calorie intake.

She cooks her own meals,  a source of lean protein that effectively  builds muscle and burns calories.

Oatmeal  is one of Won-min’s favorite foods. She often soaks oats in milk overnight  and has it for breakfast with berries.

According to Healthline,  one cup (81 g) of oatmeal contains about 10 g of protein,  which  keeps you feeling full longer  and  supports effective weight loss.

Oatmeal helps **delay gastric emptying, stimulating the release of the satiety hormone PYY,**  which reduces cravings.

Oatmeal is also  **a rich source of fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients,**  which are beneficial for overall health and immunity.

3 Maintain good posture

Won-min emphasizes that  maintaining a hunched posture over time weakens your abdominal muscles.  In contrast,  keeping your back straight strengthens and tones your abdominal muscles.

The US National Library of Medicine  draws a similar conclusion. According to the library,  poor posture, especially with the head tilted forward,  not only  causes neck pain  but also  negatively impacts your spine  and  the effectiveness of your muscles,  leading to  weak abdominal muscles.
