The Beauty Benefits of Grapefruit Essential Oil for Hair
Hoang Thuy, a former beauty queen, once struggled with damaged hair, but now boasts a head of long, sleek locks. Her secret? Natural, simple ingredients. In addition to using soap nuts and Indian acacia for washing her hair, and ginger to treat dandruff, Thuy has recently shared a new hair care routine on her vlog, teaching followers how to make grapefruit essential oil and olive oil hair masks at home.
One of the most well-known benefits of grapefruit essential oil is its ability to stimulate hair growth, resulting in longer and smoother hair. Using this oil as a hair treatment is a secret to achieving stronger, healthier hair. Not only does it promote hair strength, but it also adds shine and cleanses the scalp and hair.
Thuy attributes the success of this treatment to the high levels of antioxidants, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, and minerals found in rosemary and grapefruit peel, which provide essential nutrients to the hair. This results in softer, more manageable hair. Additionally, these ingredients stimulate blood circulation in the scalp, leaving you with a refreshing feeling.
How to Make Grapefruit Essential Oil at Home
Ingredients: 2 green grapefruit (the greener the peel, the more oil it will yield), 1 lemon, 2 stalks of lemongrass.
Instructions:
– Wash the grapefruit, peel, and remove the white pith. Cut the peel into thin strips.
– Slice the lemon and lightly crush the lemongrass.
– In a pot, arrange the ingredients in layers: grapefruit peel, lemon slices, and lemongrass. Add enough water to just cover the ingredients.
– Place a large bowl in the center of the pot and invert the pot lid on top. Add a few ice cubes to the lid.
– Bring the water to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer for 30 minutes.
– Remove the bowl from the pot and collect the oil that has condensed in the bowl. Allow the oil to cool, then transfer it to a clean spray bottle.
How to Use: Before shampooing, spray the essential oil onto your scalp and hair ends. Massage for 2-3 minutes, then leave it on for an additional 15-20 minutes before washing your hair.
How to Make Olive Oil and Rosemary Hair Serum
Pour olive oil into a heat-resistant glass cup and add washed rosemary leaves. In a pot, bring 300-400ml of water to a boil. Place the cup with oil and rosemary into the pot and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and allow it to cool. Before shampooing, massage the serum into your scalp and leave it on for 2-4 minutes.
