Rice water has been renowned for its skin and hair benefits. Using fermented rice water as a toner and facial mist is a popular practice, and it can also be used as a moisturizer.
The Beauty Benefits of Rice Water
Fermented rice water has a mild acidic nature and helps balance the pH of the skin, keeping pores clear and preventing whiteheads and blackheads. Its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and skin-brightening properties help achieve clear, acne-free skin, prevent early wrinkles, and keep your skin super hydrated, largely delaying signs of aging.
The pH level of rice water, after two rinses, is around 7.2, making it mildly alkaline and ideal for cleansing the skin. Additionally, rice water contains beneficial minerals such as iron, copper, zinc, chlorophyll, Anthocyannins, manganese, Lignans, and magnesium.
According to studies, individuals with allergic dermatitis who bathe in rice water for 15-20 minutes, twice a day, experience improved skin conditions.
Fermented rice water also helps even out skin tone and fade pigmentation and scars. It is particularly suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone, problematic, normal, and dry skin.
Recipe:
What you’ll need:
2 tablespoons commercial aloe vera gel
2 tablespoons fermented rice water
2-3 drops essential oil
Instructions:
– To prepare this rice water, soak 3-4 spoons of rinsed white or brown rice in a cup of water for 24 hours. Strain the water, and your fermented rice water is ready to use.
– Combine the commercial aloe vera gel, essential oil, and fermented rice water.
– Mix well until everything is emulsified and uniform.
– Pour the mixture into a convenient jar and incorporate it into your morning and evening skincare routines. Keep the cream refrigerated for up to a week.
It is recommended to use pure commercial aloe vera gel. If you are pregnant, consult your doctor before using any natural remedies or products.
For optimal results, it is also best to use rice water on the same day, as the vitamins and nutrients in rice water may transform into other substances over time. Daily use can damage the skin’s protective barrier, so it is advisable to limit face washing with rice water to two to three times a week.
