Let children participate in household chores from an early age
Every parent wants the best and most fulfilling life for their children. However, by being overly indulgent, parents often shield their children from everything and prevent them from getting involved in any task. This is a big mistake.
We all remember the story of 17-year-old prodigy Wei Yong Khang, who was admitted to the Chinese Academy of Sciences with exceptional results before completing high school.
In theory, a student achieving such high results would be a candidate for the school’s main training course, but prodigy Wei Yong Khang was expelled before he could graduate. The reason for his expulsion was revealed to be his poor ability to take care of himself.
The ultimate goal of education is to improve children’s lives. Therefore, parents need to guide their children in learning household chores and self-care skills.
Through doing chores, children will learn valuable life lessons and develop a love for labor, nurturing qualities and abilities that can be used throughout their lives.
Teach children to take responsibility
Parents need to teach their children how to take responsibility for their mistakes.
Right after children make mistakes is the best time to educate them. If parents can educate their children in a caring manner at this time, they are sure to improve.
There is a story about when President Reagan was a child, he collected some banned fireworks and was caught by the police while distributing them. He had to pay a fine of $12.5. At that time, one dollar could buy 10 laying hens, equivalent to 125 female chickens, which was a large sum of money that Reagan couldn’t afford.
Reagan’s father knew about this but didn’t scold or hit his son. He simply told Reagan: “The family has money, but this time I can’t give it to you. You have to take responsibility for your mistake. I will temporarily lend you $12.5, but it must be paid back after one year.” To repay the debt to his father, Reagan worked hard outside of school hours to earn money. After more than half a year of diligent work, Reagan finally earned $12.5 and proudly handed it over to his father.
Reagan’s father patted his son on the back and said, “A man who can take responsibility for his mistakes will be rewarded in the future.” Later, Reagan became President and wrote in his memoir about what it means to take responsibility for his own mistakes.
When children make mistakes, let them bear the consequences and increase the cost of their mistakes.
When children are young, they cannot distinguish right from wrong, so it is up to parents to teach them.
Encourage children to study hard
Studying and reading books extensively is not the only way out for ordinary people, but it is certainly the best path if they want to be wealthy and successful.
As a parent, you have a responsibility to your child’s future. From a young age, parents need to be strict with their children’s education and encourage them to study hard. Only knowledge can nurture a beautiful soul and provide a solid foundation for the future.
