Green tea
Green tea is a traditional beverage of the East Asians. Analysis has shown that green tea contains valuable plant compounds such as catechins, flavonoids, lignans, and phenolic acids.
Notably, among the catechins found in tea, EGCG has superior antioxidant capabilities.
A large number of clinical studies have also shown that the polyphenols in green tea are highly effective in preventing the formation of tumors in various organs.
According to a report published in Oral Oncology Journal (US) in 2021, a study analyzed 19 studies with 4,675 individuals, showing that drinking green tea has a protective effect and prevents oral cancer. Another analysis of 51 studies with 1.6 million people in the US also showed that green tea helps reduce the risk of lung cancer, especially in men. Consuming green tea can also reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
Drinking green tea is also good for the health of the liver. Specifically, individuals with fatty liver disease will see improved liver enzyme levels after 12 weeks of consuming green tea, thanks to the abundant antioxidant content of this beverage. Additionally, green tea helps deal with excessive fat accumulation in the liver.
You can use green tea bags or loose tea leaves, steep them in boiling water, and let it cool to approximately 65°C. According to CNN Health, a warm drink at or below 65°C is considered safe for consumption.
Adults can consume up to approximately 640ml of green tea per day. As most types of green tea contain caffeine, users should consider the timing of consumption or choose decaffeinated green tea.
Aloe vera with rock sugar
Peel off the green skin of the aloe vera, and only use the white meaty part. Rinse it with diluted saltwater to reduce its sliminess.
Put a pot of water on the stove and boil it, then add 200g of rock sugar and stir gently to dissolve the sugar quickly. Add pandan leaves and simmer together.
When the pandan leaves have turned darker, remove them and add a teaspoon of banana oil. Mix the pre-prepared aloe vera evenly into the pot and turn off the stove.
Aloe vera cooked with pandan leaves has a refreshing, sweet taste from the rock sugar. You can add ice or keep it in the refrigerator before enjoying it to make the aloe vera drink even better!
After cooking, you can pour it into small bottles and store it in the refrigerator for later use.
Winter melon with Chinese yam
Wash the winter melon and keep it intact or peel off the skin and cut it into pieces. Wash the pandan leaves and tie them into a bundle. Wash the Chinese yam fruit, and cut it into 6-8 small pieces.
Add 3 liters of water to a pot, then add the winter melon, Chinese yam, and Chinese herbal medicine pieces. Cook until boiling.
When the winter melon starts boiling, add pandan leaves and 100g of rock sugar. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer until the winter melon is soft and cooked.
When the winter melon is cooked, turn off the heat and remove all the herbs from the pot. Strain the mixture again using a sieve, and pour it into a container to refrigerate for about 2 days.
Winter melon with Chinese yam is a refreshing and delicious drink to cool down.
