According to Bright Side, there are simple tips to check your health. Just spend 5 minutes to check your health, and you will know if you are healthy or sick. Let’s take a look at 7 simple ways to check your health at home:
1. Eyes
To check your eyes, close one eye and step back from the screen about 3 to 5 paces, then open your eye and look at the circle above.
Do you see some darker lines appear than the remaining lines? If the answer is yes, you should visit an ophthalmologist as you may have a vision disorder.
2. Flexibility
To perform this test, sit on the floor with your legs straight in front of you. Then, lean forward and use your fingertips to touch your toes.
If you can do this easily, it means your body is balanced and healthy. If this is difficult, you should practice yoga, pilates, or swimming to improve muscle flexibility and prevent musculoskeletal disorders.
3. Heart rate
Sit quietly for five minutes, then place four fingers on your wrist to find your pulse. Count the number of beats per minute.
For adults and children over 10 years old, 60-100 beats per minute are considered normal. More or less could indicate blood pressure issues. However, don’t try to self-diagnose, visit a doctor for more accurate results.
4. Blood circulation
Pour a little cold water into a glass and dip your fingers into it for about 30 seconds. If your fingertips turn white or blue, you may have blood circulation issues.
A significant drop in temperature (or stress) can cause constriction of the blood vessels supplying blood to the fingers, toes, nose, and ears, so these parts of the body don’t receive enough blood and become numb. Therefore, you should avoid environments with large and sudden temperature changes.
5. Respiratory system
Light a match and hold it a distance away from your face. Take a deep breath through your nose and exhale through your mouth, trying to blow out the match.
How many times do you have to try to blow out the match? If it takes several attempts, it indicates poor respiratory function. The reason could be smoking, lack of exercise, or chronic respiratory disorders.
6. Water retention
Press your thumb into your foot.
If there is still a dent on your foot after removing your thumb, it means your body is retaining excess fluid and you have edema. Therefore, you should avoid salt and limit processed foods, canned goods…
7. Thyroid
Close your eyes, stretch your arms out in front of you, spread your palms, and ask someone to place a piece of paper on your hands. If the paper starts to shake with your fingers, you should see an endocrinologist.
