Use a Hair Dryer
First, dry the glass cup/bottle with the paper label. Hold the cup tightly and use a hair dryer on the hottest setting to blow around the area with the paper label. Repeat this process a few times to loosen the adhesive. When you see some progress, use one hand to control the hair dryer, and the other hand to slowly peel off the label from the glass surface. Note that you should blow the hair dryer to the area where you are peeling off the label. Keep blowing until the glue stain completely comes off. To make sure, you should use a sponge to wipe it off again.
Use Alcohol
Alcohol is a versatile solution that effectively removes stubborn adhesive. The method is very simple. You just need to use a cotton ball soaked with alcohol and place it on the glass surface with the paper label. Leave it for about 15 minutes for the alcohol to penetrate the label, then remove it. At this point, the alcohol will make the adhesive peel off on its own, and you just need to rinse the cup/bottle with water.
Note that alcohol evaporates quickly, so you need to rub quickly when the alcohol has just soaked into the stuck glue.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is also extremely effective in removing the remaining glue stains on glass surfaces. First, mix baking soda with cooking oil in a ratio of 1:1. Dip a clean cotton ball into the baking soda-oil mixture and rub it on the surface with the stuck paper label. Leave it for about 30 minutes, then scrub it as usual with water. The glue stain will automatically peel off without taking too much time for scrubbing.
Use White Vinegar
Dip a cotton swab into high-concentration alcohol and gently wipe the sticky glue stains. If you don’t have alcohol, you can replace it with medicated oil. Just slowly apply a few drops of medicated oil to the glue stain, and rub the oil evenly to cover the entire stain. The glue will quickly soften and peel off immediately.
Vinegar and Cooking Oil
If the glass cup still has the paper label which looks very unsightly, mix vinegar with cooking oil and then rub it on the remaining glue spot. Leave it for about 30 minutes, then wash it as usual. Under the effect of dishwashing, the hard glue will easily peel off.
Use Nail Polish Remover
Because nail polish remover contains corrosive substances, just apply this type of remover directly to the remaining glue and wait 10-15 minutes before wiping it off with a sponge. The glass surface will become clean and shiny, and you no longer have to worry about the glue stains.
Use Rubber Eraser
You can use a rubber eraser if you only need to clean a thin layer of glue. For example, if you have removed the label and there is only a small amount of adhesive left on the bottle, just rub an eraser on it.
