Using rice to preserve eggs
Rice is not only an essential staple in the daily meals of Vietnamese people. It is also used for many other useful purposes.
You can take eggs and put them in a container filled with rice and see the surprising results.
The environment inside the rice always has a lower temperature than outside. Rice powder has the ability to prevent bacteria from entering. Therefore, eggs stored in rice containers will remain fresh and delicious for up to 6-8 months.
Using rice to ripen fruits
This is an age-old folk experience. When you want fruits like avocado, mango, and green banana to ripen quickly, put them in a rice container and seal it tightly. The fruits in the rice container will ripen quickly and evenly.
The sealed rice container is a place that can contain ethylene gas, a gas released to ripen fruits. In addition, the low temperature in the rice container prevents the fruits from spoiling due to hot weather.
Using rice to absorb moisture
Put some rice in a sugar or salt container to prevent moisture and clumping. You can wrap the rice in a small cloth bag and put it in the sugar or salt container. The rice will absorb all the moisture inside the container, keeping the sugar and salt dry.
Using rice to clean glass bottles
For difficult-to-clean glass bottles, you can use rice to clean them. Just put a handful of rice inside the bottle, add a little water, and shake vigorously. The dirt inside will be easily removed. Repeat the shaking process to achieve the best cleaning results. Then, simply rinse the bottle with clean water.
