The Northern region is entering the humid season, with the humidity in the air reaching about 90% leading to the phenomenon of water vapor condensing and forming on the surface of objects.
The humid environment is a favorable condition for harmful bacteria and mold to thrive. Not only affecting human health, but the humid weather also causes objects to deteriorate faster, including cars.
According to experts, due to prolonged drizzle, the humidity in the air is very high, the concentration of acid and other corrosive substances along with dust and industrial soot in the rainwater is also much higher than in the summer rain, these impacts make cars more prone to damage.

Specifically, in the humid season, the car body is more prone to oxidation and corrosion. The humid weather with high air humidity will accelerate the oxidation process. Therefore, if you have to travel frequently in wet drizzly weather like this, the car will deteriorate and age faster.
In addition, by observing with the naked eye, we can see that in the humid season, the surface of the car is often covered with a layer of dew. This is the condition of water condensation on the car, which limits visibility and poses dangers when driving.
Not only that, the prolonged wet condition of cars will have a negative impact on other parts such as car seats, steering components, car flooring… and most importantly, the engine block, electrical system. These parts are easily corroded or damaged due to moisture…and therefore, the lifespan of the car is greatly reduced.
With the prolonged wet condition, cars will be a favorable environment for bacteria and mold to grow, causing unpleasant odors.
Therefore, to overcome these conditions, drivers must properly maintain and care for their cars during the prolonged humid season. Experts have suggested some solutions:
Park in a dry and sheltered place
You should park in a dry and well-ventilated place. This is the best way to keep your car away from corrosive substances and oxidation. If you have to park outside, you should use a car cover.
Clean the car
When regularly cleaned, the oxidation process will be slower, and the car will always be in a clean condition, which is also very good for the health of the users. If you clean the car at home, first, tidy up the items in the interior compartment neatly, use a vacuum cleaner to remove all the dirt from the surfaces. Then use a specialized car cleaning solution to clean.
After cleaning the car thoroughly, use a dry cloth to wipe the entire car and close the doors, turn on the air conditioner in Dry mode to dehumidify. At the same time, activate the windshield defogging function to help dry this part, making it dry and shiny.
Regularly wash the car
Skipping car washing because you think the car will get dirty right after is a mistake in the car care process. Because the mud sticking to the car for a long time has a higher concentration of corrosive substances than in the rain. Regular car washing may not keep the car clean all the time, but it reduces the amount of corrosion on the car. Moreover, when the car is regularly washed, the conditions for oxidation will decrease, and rusting will be minimized.
Maintain the electrical system and air filter
High humidity causes the electrical system, especially the electrical connections on the car, to oxidize quickly. Therefore, it is not surprising that the car often stalls or loses power in the rainy season. In addition, the electrical system is also easily short-circuited or even caught fire. To avoid this phenomenon, it is best to regularly maintain the electrical system. Pay attention to connect and protect the wires and connections carefully.
In addition, the air filter also needs special attention, especially for cars that often travel long distances or in environments with a lot of dust. The wet air filter is as harmful as when it is heavily covered in dust. Therefore, you need to regularly take the car to the maintenance center to clean the air filter at least once a month.
Do not lower the car windows when driving
When moving in humid conditions, if you lower the car windows, it will create conditions for the humid environment outside to rush inside. It is best to close the doors, turn on the air conditioner in Dry mode, or the appropriate cooling temperature. Avoid setting the air conditioner in hot mode because the water vapor will not evaporate but, on the contrary, it will accumulate more seriously due to the temperature difference.
Use dehumidifiers and scented items
Car owners should equip their cars with items that can absorb the humidity in the air, helping the car space always dry and cool. In addition, depending on personal preference, car owners can also choose items with fragrance to place in the car such as essential oils, coffee bags… or fragrant pineapple.
