Corn is a type of grain that can be boiled or cooked into various dishes such as stir-fries, deep-fried, hot pot, stew, soup… and all of them are delicious and appealing. Since it’s not always possible to go to the market, many people have had to buy corn and store it for later use. Here are 2 ways to store corn.
Method 1: Boil first then store
Corn should be used when it is still fresh, with the kernels still intact. When boiling, peel the corn, leaving about 2 layers of husk and do not remove the silk.
Soak the corn in clean water for 20 minutes. The purpose of this step is to make the corn ripen faster and sweeter.
Put the soaked corn into a pot, add a suitable amount of water, then add a little salt and baking soda, and boil over high heat for about 20 minutes. Then remove the corn. The purpose of adding salt is to keep the corn fresh, enhance the sweet taste of the corn, and prevent it from drying out. The purpose of adding baking soda is to make the corn more aromatic and delicious.
When the corn is cool, wrap each cob in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator. If you have a separate food storage cabinet, you will be able to store more corn than in the refrigerator.
When we want to eat, take out the corn, no need to thaw, just cook it directly. If you want to boil it again to eat, just boil it for 10 minutes. With this storage method, the corn will retain its fresh and delicious taste.
Method 2: Store directly
Peel off the husk of the corn, leaving 2-3 layers and leave the silk intact to prevent the corn from losing moisture.
Then use plastic wrap to wrap each cob of corn and store it in the freezer. Note that corn should not be stored in the crisp drawer or refrigerator as it will cause the corn to age quickly, lose moisture, and spoil.
Wishing you success!
