Coconut oil is considered one of the ‘delicious, nutritious, cheap’ beauty methods that women trust and widely use. Therefore, coconut oil is produced and bottled widely on the market.
However, those are often industrial products that contain many impurities and chemicals. You can make pure coconut oil at home with the following simple steps.
Method 1
First, prepare 1 kg of grated coconut, 400 ml of boiling water, 1 strainer, and 1 saucepan. Grind the grated coconut and soak it in boiling water, stir evenly, and let it sit for 15 – 20 minutes. Then, use the strainer to remove the residue and extract the coconut milk. After filtering, pour the coconut milk into the saucepan and bring to a boil. Once the oil is boiling, reduce the heat and stir constantly to prevent the coconut milk from burning to the bottom of the saucepan. If the water boils away, continue stirring to release the coconut oil.
After boiling for a while, you will see the coconut oil layer gradually appearing. Continue to simmer the oil on low heat until the coconut residue turns golden brown. Turn off the heat and filter the shiny yellow coconut oil on top, and you will have the desired amount of coconut oil.
Method 2
Instead of boiling the filtered coconut milk like in method 1, after obtaining the coconut milk, pour it into a glass jar, seal it tightly, and let it sit for about 1 day in a well-ventilated place.
After 1 day, you will see a layer of foam appearing on the surface. Put this glass jar in the refrigerator to solidify the foam layer. Use a spoon to gently remove the hardened foam layer, and you will get pure coconut oil underneath.
