Origin of the Public Security Forces Day
Origin of the Public Security Forces Day
In August 1945, our nation fought in World War II. Under the brilliant leadership and clear guidelines of the Communist Party of Vietnam, our military and civilians united and followed the directives, awaiting the signal to attack. Subsequently, from August 13th to 17th, the central organs of the Party consecutively convened and issued the general insurrection order.
On the morning of August 19, 1945, people across the country gathered at the Hanoi Opera House for a rally, protected by the youth self-defense forces.
At the same time, the armed forces in the Central region, known as the Reconnaissance Agency, in the Southern region as the National Self-Defense Force, and in the Northern region as the Liberation Agency, all simultaneously focused on the mission of safeguarding national security and order. These forces were the predecessors of the Vietnamese People’s Public Security Forces.
Hence, August 19th is considered the traditional day of the Vietnamese People’s Public Security Forces.
