A while back, Facebook account holder Pham Kim Ngan shared a post in the YEU BEP (Esheep Kitchen family) group, adding that this method is more effective for fresh shrimp; it’s not as easy to use a spoon for less fresh shrimp. So, today, she’s sharing another super simple, clean, and fast way to prep shrimp with scissors.
What You’ll Need
All you need is a pair of scissors that feel comfortable in your hand; they don’t have to be big or specialized for food prep.
How to Clean Shrimp with Scissors
First, cut the shrimp’s whiskers, then snip the top of the shrimp’s head to easily remove the waste and veins.
Finally, gently squeeze the shrimp’s head and use the scissors to pull out the waste and veins.

Note: Be gentle when pulling out the waste and veins, and you can also remove the shrimp’s gills.
With just three simple steps, you’ll have clean shrimp, free of any waste or intestines. Give it a try if you’ve bought less-than-fresh shrimp or have been storing them for a few days. Hopefully, Pham Kim Ngan’s tips will add to your shrimp prep repertoire!
