In order to help mothers preserve delicious dried shrimps at home all year round, let’s explore some tips for preserving dried shrimps at home!

1. Divide and store in the refrigerator

To preserve the shrimps, you should only take a small amount, about 50g – 100g, put it in a plastic bag or a glass jar and store it in the refrigerator for daily consumption.

The remaining shrimps can be stored in plastic bags (2 or 3 nested bags) tightly sealed and kept in the freezer. If possible, vacuum seal before storing in the freezer.

Did you know?

Placing the shrimps in the freezer does not freeze them hard, on the contrary, the method above will preserve the delicious tenderness of the dried shrimps.

Note:

Do not place the dried shrimps in the refrigerated compartment, as the preservation time will not be long, and the dried shrimps will lose their flavor and become hard and less tasty.

You should also keep them in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks. Take them out, sun-dry them again, and continue to store them as instructed above.

2. Store in a dry place

If you don’t have a refrigerator, you can wrap the dried shrimps in multiple layers of plastic bags (make sure to choose completely dried shrimps, not moist). Store them in a dry and airy place. Every week, take them out, sun-dry them to make sure they are completely dry, then continue to store and consume gradually until they are all gone.

Note:

If vacuum sealing without the moisture-absorbing packet, you can store the pack of dried shrimps outside under normal conditions.

If you don’t have a moisture-absorbing packet, you must store the dried shrimps in the refrigerated or frozen compartment. Only take out and consume until they are all gone.

Some notes for storing dried shrimps

Dried shrimps, dried squids, dried fish… should be kept in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator, which can preserve their quality for up to 6 months without any loss. If stored in the refrigerated compartment, sometimes when the refrigerator is overloaded, the temperature may not be maintained properly, causing mold on the dried shrimps.

If you use them every day, just put them in a tightly sealed container and store them in the refrigerated compartment. If you can’t finish them in a week, take them out and sun-dry them for about 15-30 minutes, then you can continue to use them like that for a whole year without any issue, and the quality will still be ensured.
