Air conditioning is an essential device for many families during the hot summer. However, it consumes a considerable amount of electricity, so whenever people look at their electricity bills, they feel “painful in the wallet.” Therefore, how to use air conditioning comfortably while still saving electricity is a question that many people are interested in.

Recently, the social media platform TikTok has shared a clip on using air conditioning throughout the night for only 3,000 VND (approximately $0.13). As a topic of interest in this summer, the video has attracted nearly 4 million views within just 3 days of being published.

According to the person in the video, to use air conditioning throughout the night for only 3,000 VND, you just need to follow these 3 simple steps:

Step 1: Before going to bed, set the temperature to 26 degrees Celsius.

Step 2: Press the MODE button and set it to Cool mode (the snowflake symbol on the control panel indicates the cooling mode).

Step 3: Press the Energy Saving button – this is the button for saving energy. For some other types of air conditioners that do not have this button, you can press the ECO button instead.

In the comments section, many people expressed their interest and praised the method, as well as shared their experiences of applying it. Some mentioned that they had already tried this method and achieved different results. Some said that they used air conditioning for 15-20 hours a day and only spent around 100,000 VND (approximately $4.35) on electricity per month, while others claimed to have saved up to 40%.

However, some people found it impractical because when they switched to the ECO mode, the cooling effect was not satisfactory, causing them to sweat and wake up in the middle of the night to readjust the air conditioning.

What is the Energy Saving mode?

The Energy Saving mode, also known as Energy Saver Mode or Fan Smart Mode, is a mode that significantly reduces the power consumption of the air conditioner. When these modes are enabled, if the temperature drops below the set temperature, the compressor and fan will turn off to save energy.

The fans inside the air conditioner will automatically turn on/off every 2-3 minutes to monitor the surrounding temperature. If the temperature rises above the set level, the compressor and fan will turn on simultaneously. This ensures the cooling capacity of the air conditioner is still maintained.

What is the ECO mode?

Similar to the Energy Saving mode, ECO mode is also an energy-saving mode. When this mode is selected, the air conditioner will automatically cool and pause when reaching the desired temperature. When the room temperature increases by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, the air conditioner will resume cooling, and this process will repeat throughout its operation.

Some studies have also shown that using ECO mode not only makes people feel more relaxed and comfortable but also helps the air conditioner operate stably and extends its lifespan.

Note that when the air conditioner temperature is set below 24 degrees Celsius, you should not activate the ECO mode. If the set temperature is too low, the ECO mode will automatically turn off. At this point, the air conditioner will understand that you need rapid cooling, which will consume more energy.

In addition, you can also use the Sleep mode, as well as the timer function to turn on/off the air conditioner, for effective energy saving.
