If you know how to activate your BIDV card but not how to lock it, follow these steps provided by FPT Shop.
When to lock your BIDV card?
Cardholder’s request to lock the card
If you no longer need to use your BIDV card, you can request the bank to deactivate it. Or if you lose or have it stolen, locking the card will prevent the risk of theft from the funds in the card.
You can choose to either temporarily or permanently lock the card. A temporary lock will be effective for a certain period of time, while a permanent lock will render the card unusable.
Due to incorrect PIN entry or ATM malfunction
- When withdrawing cash from an ATM, you will need to enter your BIDV card’s PIN. If you enter the wrong PIN 3 times, the card will be automatically locked, and the screen will display the message “Your card has been locked“.
- In the second case, if you withdraw money from a BIDV card at an ATM of a bank that is not affiliated with BIDV, the card will also be locked.
- ATMs sometimes malfunction, which can also cause your BIDV card to be locked.
Some notes before locking your BIDV card
- If you choose to permanently lock your BIDV card, it means that all transactions through the card will not be possible, and the money in the card will not be able to be transferred out. Therefore, before locking the card, withdraw all the money in the card.
- A permanently locked card cannot be unlocked and reused.
- A temporarily locked card can still transfer/receive money, withdraw money normally through the BIDV SmartBanking application.
- After locking or canceling your BIDV ATM card, if you do not return the card provided by the bank, you will have to pay a lost card fee.
- For temporarily locked cards, cardholders can unlock them online on the BIDV SmartBanking application or Internet Banking.
- In case the card is locked due to incorrect PIN entry, you need to bring your ID to a BIDV branch/transaction office to unlock it.
