On each day, every household keeps a large amount of fresh and cooked food for their family. However, it is important to know how to properly store and preserve food to ensure the safety and health of everyone. In this article, Bach Hoa XANH will share with you some extremely useful tricks for Tet holiday.

1Storing fresh food

Store fresh food such as meat and fish in the refrigerator freezer. Before putting them in boxes or plastic bags, make sure to clean and cut them into appropriate pieces for cooking. Seal the boxes tightly and tie the bags, then place them in the freezer. When cooking, defrost the meat completely and remember to cook all the defrosted food.

Storing vegetables

To keep green vegetables fresh during Tet, you need to remove rotten leaves, stems, roots, and rinse them thoroughly before putting them in food bags. Tie the bags tightly and place them in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator.

For root vegetables, you should keep them intact, peel and rinse them only when cooking. If they have been stored in the refrigerator, you should also keep them in the refrigerator. For root vegetables that are not peeled, you need to wash them with diluted saltwater or specialized vegetable and fruit wash.

For fruits, rinse them, let them drain, then put them in sealed bags and place them in the fruit compartment. For fruits like …, you can use lime to spread on the stem end to keep the fruits fresh.

To keep melons fresh, prevent them from becoming mushy, soak them in 15% saltwater for about 30 minutes. Then take them out, let them dry, and store them in a dry and ventilated place.

2Storing cooked food

If you want to store cooked food for a long time, you should let it cool down and then seal it before putting it in the refrigerator.

For braised dishes, …, stewed bamboo shoots with pork, … you should cook enough for 2 – 3 meals and avoid reheating the dish multiple times.

: When taking out the Chung cake, you should rinse it with clean water and press it with a heavy object to make the cake more compact. Store the cake in a cool place and steam, fry, or reheat it if the cake becomes firm.

For fried and roasted dishes, you should place them in a large container and store them in the refrigerator. When you want to eat, take out the desired portion and re-fry or roast it in a microwave to heat it up.

If you don’t have a refrigerator, it is easy for giò chả and nem chua to become spoiled. You should remove the outermost layer to prevent sweating. Store them in a basket with small holes and avoid windy places. Giò chả and nem chua should be consumed within 2 days, otherwise you should boil them again.

Note: You should keep raw food and cooked food in separate containers. Storing them separately helps keep the food from drying out, smelling bad, and spreading bacteria to other dishes.
