No hitting on the back
The back area has the spine so parents should never hit their child in this area as it can cause paralysis and affect the child’s life in the future. Therefore, even if parents are angry, they should consider the position of their hands. As the saying goes, “spare the rod and spoil the child,” but not every time the rod is effective. Educating young children requires patience and effective methods.
No hitting on the child’s head
Parents should never hit their child’s head as it can cause serious injuries. Blows to the head can result in brain concussion, skull fractures, brain compression, bleeding, brain contusion, and even death. In case of danger, such as crying, vomiting, headaches, seizures, unconsciousness, bleeding ears or nose, weak limbs, adults should take the child to the emergency room immediately. Avoid thinking that the child is faking it and neglecting their condition.
No hitting on the child’s stomach or chest
The chest area is the center of the bones and respiratory system. When hitting the chest, the child can have respiratory distress, bone fractures, and most seriously, it can lead to death. The abdominal area can cause damage to internal organs such as intestines, liver, and spleen. If the child is not taken to the emergency room in time and the condition of internal bleeding becomes serious, it can endanger the child’s life.
Ears and face
Many parents have the habit of twisting their child’s ears when they misbehave or make mistakes. However, twisting or pulling the child’s ears can damage the nerves in the ears or even cause the child to faint.
Using physical punishment is never an effective method of education that helps the child behave as expected by parents. Hitting a child can have psychological effects and even make the child stubborn and defiant. Some children may develop a lack of self-confidence, fear, and become withdrawn.
The long-term consequences of education with physical punishment are that the child grows up with a tendency to use violence to solve problems in life. Therefore, instead of using physical punishment, parents need to find more reasonable methods of education.
