1A Day of National Unity – Nguyen Quang Toan

DAY OF NATIONAL UNITY

Poem: Nguyen Quang Toan

WISHING for a day of national unity

NORTH and South together in sincere harmony.

NORTH and South shining in glorious array,

CONNECTING the bond of kinship, a united family.

SEAMLESS mountains and rivers, and shores at peace,

ONE Vietnam, descendants of the Lac Hong lineage.

THE S-shaped land, gracefully curved,

CELEBRATING with joy, another glorious feat achieved.

THE mountains and rivers have witnessed a time of war,

AND the mountains bear the scars of deep resentment.

IT has always been a painful separation,

IT has always been a promise to return after departure.

TRUONG Son echoes with the oath to defend the nation,

WILL there be any force that can suppress our determination?

ONE heart toward tomorrow,

THE words of Uncle Ho: building a glorious future.

MAY NORTH and SOUTH CONNECT AS ONE,

CELEBRATING THE ETERNAL EXISTENCE OF OUR NATION.

2Celebrating the Day of Unification – Hoang Minh Tuan

MAY the entire nation rejoice on this day,

NORTH and South reunited as one,

NORTH and South sing in unison,

CONNECTING the Hien Luong Bridge between the two shores,

UNITED as one nation, indivisible,

A SINGLE belief in the spirit of Vietnam,

THE S-shaped land, full of passion,

CELEBRATING the day of liberation, adorned with flags,

VERDANT mountains casting gentle reflections,

CALM rivers mirroring the peaceful landscape,

FOREVER cherishing the memories of division,

NEVER forgetting the days of separation,

LONG years of resistance – no fear,

NATIONAL survival – we must fight,

MAY NORTH and SOUTH CONNECT AS ONE,

CELEBRATING THE ETERNAL EXISTENCE OF OUR NATION.

3Apology, My Dear – Dao Manh Thach

Forgive me, my dear, for the unfulfilled promise of victory,

To walk with you under the radiant sun,

The entire land adorned with vibrant colors,

Celebrating our nation’s triumph in song.

As a soldier, my veins carry the fire of passion,

With comrades, determined to liberate the city,

To paint our homeland in glorious hues,

The North and South united, a dream come true.

As a soldier, I carry my rifle,

Amidst the roar of bombs and bullets on the battlefield,

For my nation, I am resolute in my determination,

To vanquish the enemy and liberate our homeland.

Far from home, for the sake of our beloved nation,

Countless sacrifices and bloodshed, yet our spirits remain unbroken,

So that tomorrow our homeland may rejoice,

The two regions united, a testament to our unwavering belief.

For our nation, I offer my life,

Even in sacrifice, I pray for your strength,

Forgive me, my dear, for the unfulfilled promise,

In peace, we shall walk hand in hand.

Our nation is beautiful, isn’t it?

Adorned with flags, the North and South now stand as one,

The entire nation rejoices in jubilation,

Awaiting the happiness we have longed for…

…With steady steps, I hear you, my dear…

4Brothers and Sisters, Return Home – Nguyen Huong

(Commemorating April 30th)

Liberation of our nation, it is finally here,

Brothers and sisters, where do you stand?

In the mountains or the deep trenches,

Following the turbulent waves or the muddy riverbeds?

In the vast universe,

Within every grain of sand and moist earth,

Soaring in the wind, carried by the fragrant breeze,

My heart yearns for you, calling you back,

With clasped hands, I pray to heaven,

For peace, tranquility, and prosperity for our children,

May their smiles forever shine brightly,

Preserving the integrity of our borders, fulfilling our dreams,

Brothers and sisters, do not delay your return,

The mountains and rivers await your presence,

Vanquish the enemy, let their spirits soar,

With diligence, let us rebuild our nation,

Fulfilling Uncle Ho’s aspirations,

May we prosper and flourish, renowned throughout the world.
