1 What is the Date of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism Day?
Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism Day on June 21st commemorates the launch of the “Thanh Nien” newspaper, founded by the leader Nguyen Ai Quoc (Ho Chi Minh) on June 21st, 1925. “Thanh Nien” represented a new wave of journalism during the fight against French colonialism, carrying the hopes and aspirations of the nation for freedom.

2 History and Significance of Vietnamese Journalism Day
From the 19th century to the early 20th century, numerous newspapers were established in Saigon, Hanoi, and several other localities, giving rise to small groups of writers, journalists, and intellectuals with diverse political orientations. This had a significant influence on the political thinking of the people, underscoring the need for a unified journalistic organization.
Nguyen Ai Quoc founded the “Thanh Nien” newspaper, with the first issue published in China.
In Guangzhou, China, Nguyen Ai Quoc founded the “Thanh Nien” newspaper, and the first issue was published there, marking the beginning of revolutionary journalism. The newspapers were secretly transported to Vietnam and widely distributed among the people, propagating Marxism-Leninism. Subsequently, the “Thanh Nien” newspaper became the official organ of the “Vietnamese Youth Revolutionary Companion League.”

Vietnamese Journalism Day was officially established on June 21st, 1925, by Decision No. 52-QD/TW of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, dated February 5th, 1985. Throughout its formation and development, the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam agreed to name Vietnamese Journalism Day as “Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism Day” on June 21st, 2000.
